Also the 1st Mayweather fight against Jeff was kinda INTERESTING. For some reason Eddie Futch & Jazzy Jeff was chastising ODLH in the middle of the ring when they were getting instructions. Check it out on youtube. They're talking **** to ODLH before the opening bell. Eddie Futch?????
I think he took some unnecessary punches at times but it was a great fight to watch, I think it's the only fight of him that I've watched more than 10 times. The build up was amazing, and the fight did live up to the hype.
you gotta love lampley's calling on the vargas fight "Down goes Vargas!! on a ROCKET de la hoya left hook!!" that always gives me goose-pimples...
"It was better than a knockout, I made him quit Larry."-DLH after Chavez did'nt come out for the 9th round in their welter rematch. Poetic justice that DLH's words came back to bite him against Manny Pacquiao. Same round and everything, DLH did'nt come out for the 9th. Let me tell this to Larry Merchant, "It was better than a knockout, Pacquiao made him quit Larry.":yep DLH-Pacquiao, but far my favorite DLH fight.:deal
Vargas or Mosley I. The Gatti and Mayorga beatdowns were enjoyable too. I personally thought the Mosley rematch was a snoozer outside of some of the late round drama.
The Quartey fight was two exciting rounds surrounded by mostly non-action and a shitload of posing. Vargas and Mosley 1 are light years better than the Quartey fight. They actually had pretty consistent action from round 1 to 12 (or 11 with Vargas).
Really tough to say. 1 Quartey 2. Ruelas -- that left hook KO was the best left hook Oscar ever threw 3. Mayorga 4. Vargas 5. Mosley 1
