Your Favorite Era?

    I think I've done something like this before, but what the hell...........what era of boxing do you seem to gravitate or interests you more than any other? I know some here are friggin' ninjas about the bareknuckle stuff, other guys like me and Bill and Drew and Johnthomas (where has he been, anyway) like the 80's etc.........which do you like best?

    Definitely 80s as well, though I really dig how older fights look.

    Generally the lower weight classes from the 60's to the 80's, although that whole frame of time was pretty much stacked top to bottom throughout the divisions. The fact that there's a very substantial amount of footage with which to view these fights/fighters is a big plus as well. Don't get me wrong, I try to stay busy with my research on every era, and in fact probably do more reading on those which don't have the necessary amount of footage to come to my own conclusion. As far as seeking out fights to watch, though, the aforementioned period is a gold mine as far as I'm concerned.

    Mine is the same and pretty much the smaller weights as well. Might be coincidence but these are also the years I grew up in.

    The heavyweight scene of the early/middle 70's is the era I look back at most with fondness. I take an interest in all phases and weights in boxing history though. Anything to increase my knowledge of the sport. Growing up idolising Muhammad Ali explains the 70's heavyweight preference.

    Like above, early 80's.

    Especially when Smith was trying to take on the 2 big promoters in King and Arum. Not only did Smith make nice matchups, it forced the other 2 guys to start offering better cards as well. But it just didn't last long and then it was back to the Arum and King show.

    My two favorite era's are the two golden era's of the 1920's and my era of great fighters of my youth the golden 1940's of Louis, Robinson, Pep, Ike Williams, Charles , Moore. Burley,
    Saddler, Zale, Graziano, Beau Jack, on and on...

    The most exciting era in boxing is turn of the century and just before I guess, Fitz, Walcott, McAuliffe, characters like this. ****ing Wyatt Earp was ref in a crooked Fitz fight ffs :lol: Fitz and his freakish apparent never to be equalled pound for pound punching power shipping terrible beatings that would be stopped in any other era to men 40lbs heavier...maybe the deepest division in the history of the sport with the Gans era lightweights...great boxers chased out of town by legal nicities fighting world title fights in a literal lawless no-man's land...great black pioneers like Dixon annexing world titles from a society that still thought him a slave. Some crazy and wonderful **** back then.

    No footage though.

    Of the filmed ones, I don't have a favourite era. Boxing is boxing, who give a **** if it's in black and white or colour?
