Rocky Marciano was a classic attrition fighter who made up for his lack of concussive, fast-twitch power with youth and work rate, especially against the myriad of crippled geriatrics he faced. Incredible effort by the little guy.

There’s a lot of powderpuff punchers I like and admire, including the oft-mentioned (in this thread) Sweet Pea, but I’ll go with South African road warrior Brian Mitchell as my absolute favorite among the pillow-fighters.

I think he had 13 world title fights, all but the first one away from his home country (due to WBA banning title fights in South Africa after he won the title) and went undefeated in those despite often fighting in his opponent’s backyard (and only in his own a few times in non-title fights). Yet he won decisions even away from home repeatedly, winning only a few of those inside the distance because he was such a dominant boxer.

An absolutely splendid technician to behold.

But he put De La Hoya on his ass. For Whitiker, some of it came from chronic hand problems.

    My answer is Willie Pastrano.

Heavyweight trialhorse Terry Daniels. If he'd had an even decent punch, he wouldn't have accumulated the damage he did over his career.

Ottke.. Tough guy to try and break down defensively.

I understand nobody is supposed to like the guy. I always did. Ringsmarts to spare and he held those hands up high the whole fight. Terrific career he had.

Agreed. Not the least amount of power but clearly not a puncher.

But the thing is he actually kind of was a puncher, I was sort of trolling how some casuals think he had no power, he had a better right than a lot of guys and we never got to see traditional hooks from him

Maxie Rosenbloom. As case can be made for Harry Greb being classified as a light puncher too.

No. He hooked Jimmy McAllister with a textbook hook to the body in dropping him for the ten count on film. He also fractured the rugged Sal Bartolo's jaw with a right in consolidating all FW Title claims. "He who hits and runs away lives to hit another day!," was his stated philosophy, but he also correctly said in a televised interview, "I could hurt you!," and he did generate 65 career knockouts. He conserved his hands in order to fight more frequently for money, but McAllister was to avenge a draw, and Bartolo III was a huge unification bout.

Maybe so, but because he kept it sheathed, I’m sticking with my pick.

Fair enough. I'm going by who didn't have that potential if they did try loading up, so I lean towards Canto.
