I'm with OP, Danny Garcia's loss and gifts. One thing we don't do though is make excuses about corruption or drugs.
I don't have an outright favourite fighter. The sport is too broad and steeped in history to choose a single fighter out of so many. But I'll offer up Hearns, when he lost in such spectacular fashion to Hagler, in what surely was the best short fight in boxing history.
Donaire... no excuses. Mayweather... well, doesn't apply here Calderon... old. Is that even an excuse? Wladimir... I do tend to point out how terrible in every way the Fury fight was. Paulie... no excuses. Ioka... I do point out the majority viewed him as beating Ruenroeng but not frequently or desperately. Paul Williams... no excuses. Dawson... remind about the ballsy 168 move against Ward and me pointing out his glass heart. Wonjongkam... old and many fights. Really old and a ton of fights.
Sanders is my man and he had several legitimate losses. His worst and clearest was against Tubbs, where he simply got caught because he wansn't being careful enough. The one that I excuse was the Rahman loss, where he did virtually no training leading into it, because he's had a knee operation shortly prior. Even though he didn't make that excuse.
Benn losing to Eubank. Hamed losing to Barrera. Watched them losing their fights, begging them to do something to change the course of the fight and they just couldnt do it.
Roy blew out James Toney. Hagler Ko'ed Hearns and Joe Frazier fought like a demon in the FOTC. It happens to the best of them.
Barrera: Was robbed againt Morales the first time and against Marquez. I cried when Pacquiao beat him.
Huck legitimately lost to Briedis and Glowacki, though I felt he would have beaten Glowacki in a rematch. Now, I'm not so sure. Briedis straight up outclassed him though. Fury I felt lost to McDermott in their first fight.
Marvin Hagler . Something wasn't right on the night of the SRL fight. The timing , sharpness and accurate slashing punches were missing and the self and destruct Hagler was absence . It was painful to watch . Hagler in your prime you were the best and thanks for memories Champ.
