We all have our favorite fights. They usually consist of the usual suspects; Corrales/Castillo, Barrera/Morales, Gatti/Ward etc. all of them truly great fights that demand to be watched repeatedly, but what match-ups have you seen through the years that received little to no attention that you really enjoyed. Thoroughly entertaining fights that just fall short of greatness whether it be due to the lack of competitiveness or simply because it dropped under the radar. No Hagler/Hearns in this thread please. I'd have to give it up to Gerry Penalosa vs Tomas Rojas. Penalosa was making his comeback to Boxing, and Rojas seemed like the perfect journeyman. Rojas is actually a hell of a lot better than his record suggests, as he's often been clowning good fighters only to later get stopped. I think that happened to him against both Jorge Arce and Vic Darchinyan. It was a hell of a fight, some wonderful exchanges, and the Filipino crowd were up in arms. One of the fighters was tall and lanky, throwing bunches of punches whereas the other was more calculated and would wait for his openings. A great fight, indeed. To people outside of Ireland and the UK Dunne vs Cordoba wasnt well known but it was a great fight. Rojas is a really good fighter, very underrated, your right about his record, doesnt do him justice.
julian letterlough-Julio Gonzalez was a great one along with kevin kelley-alejandro gonzalez and james page-jose lios lopez
I really liked Penalosa/Gonzalez. Gonzalez was outboxing him the entire fight and then around the 8th round Penalosa just caught him with a perfect shot to the liver and he was done.
