So in the years of 98, 99, 00, 01, 02 & 04 Calzaghe beat 7 top 10 rated SMWs (one who had just left the top would make 8 but not included) and out of those 14 fighters 3 of those were subs and one a gimme for a tune up to a big fight that fell through. Is it Calzaghes fault, Salmaci, Tate, Echoles and Collins backed out? No

You missed out 03 where Calzaghe only fought once against a top 10 SMW which would make 8 top 10 rated SMWs out of 14 where 3 of the 6 non top 10 rated were subs for fighters that backed out

 

You dont know Calzaghes career or the SMW division of a few years ago obviously. You just throw names like Veit but dont realise he was considered a world champ and has done more at SMW than over half of todays current SMW top 10 :hi:

I watched Calzaghe from the start of his career and seen him fight LIVE twice.

• Here is what I do know. Veit didn't post a significant win against a NAMED opponent in his entire career.

• Calzaghe gave the guy a rematch, after knocking him out in one round, to protect a WBO bauble. Just the kind of conduct that you would take a **** on Roy Jones for.

Don't drag Sugar Joe into this. The issue is DM vs Jones never coming close to materializing, despite Jones, HBO, The Ring, and his fanboys falsely declaring him the 'undisputed' champion when in reality DM had the greater claim to the throne.

DM called him out, posted an open letter online challenging Jones, and Jones just deliberately ignored him.

Even if The Ring didn't view DM as champion, to award Jones their title after he disposed of a garbage man is laughable. WTF were they thinking?
