Where have you seen me do that?
I comment on Jones for ducking Michalczewski the true LHW champ and then for ducking Erdei when Jones was WBO mandatory. I comment on Jones for ducking Eubank, Benn, Collins, Calzaghe, Tiozzo as well, but not what you are saying

Calzaghe did pull out against Johnson but he also did Lacy and Sheika and look what happend there .
Do remember though that Calzaghe had to fight the winner of Sheika/Johnson and Johnson lost so thats Johnsons fault.
Then Calzaghe was ringside to fight Johnson if he beat Woods in their 3rd fight and guess what Johnson lost again

    Read on

They would have fought in 2004 if Johnson had waited instead of fighting Jones. Johnson told Dan Goosen to forget about Joe. Yet he came running back to Calzaghe when Joe became a superstar after whooping Lacy.

    BBC Tuesday, 8 June, 2004

But Johnson is adamant Calzaghe has lost his chance, saying: "The fight is off. I'm not interested in fighting Joe Calzaghe any more.Johnson refused to wait for the fight to be rescheduled on 04,fact.

Calzaghe agreed to fight Johnson in September 06 on the condition that Johnson beat Woods in their 3rd fight. However Johnson lost and missed his chance. Calzaghe was ringside for this fight - some scared ducker hey. Why do people leave out this information when discussing this issue?

and I have a hard time believing Calzaghe would duck an old journeyman like Johnson to fight a younger, much more dangerous Mikkel Kessler!!! and yes Calzaghe WAS injury prone. he was notorious for hand problems.....Many of his fights including Lacy had to be rescheduled. He still ended up fighting them. He wanted to reschedule the Johnson fight but like i saidJ ohnson said he was "done" with Calzaghe.

everybody was beating johnson before he popped up on the hbo screen and knockout that over hyped HBO fighter jones jr

also not once throughout calzaghes reign was johnson ranked in the ringmag top 10!!

    Okay, pal!

    You're right!

Mario Veit is a LEGEND! You happy?

PS - Wongjongkam has been "trade recognised" as one of the best fighters in the world for a decade and his status is literally iconic in Thailand. Good comparison, dummy!

You have never slandered Jones for title defences at 168lbs or 175lbs on ESB?

    AND

How in the **** can you say Jones ducked Eubank? Chris didn't fight a decorated American fighter in his entire career. Not one.

Collins was approached to fight Jones and declined an offer in the mid-nineties. Then they were set to fight and Collins collapsed after a sparring session.

Calzaghe fought Jones when he knew the odds were in his favor, let's not even dispute that.

Tiozzo? Too insignificant to be compared to Jones.

You are quick to talk about Jones ducking Benn and Eubank but when its obvious Joe ducked Johnson we get this long ass explanation ..Look imo Joe would have beat him ,but to try to soley point the finger at the likes of Jones for not making certain fights shows your bias .I always hear that Jones ducked Benn ,Eubank etc etc but where were they when Toney called them out who Jones actually fought ? Can't have it one way !

All these champions have mandos and common oppoenents but people rank fighters based on head to head match ups against the best when they are at their best ! I can't say Joe has done that because all we can really measure his greatness is on Eubank,Jones Hopkins and Kessler ..Only one of those guys were in their prime ! Yet Jones was a cherry picker ,ducked this guy and that really :huh

Again I dont understand the bias ..

I know that, but you said go out and ask 10 people and if I did that I doubt many outside of boxing would know Wongjongkam. That was your example and point when being schooled . Now you backpeddle again

I really do not get how people can argue that if a fighter is ranked that automatically makes them very good? Over the years I have seen some **** ass rankings. when you combine this fact with SMW was always the ugly sister and these were probably WBO rankings it becomes the biggest joke out there. The only persons record that makes RJJ look great is that of Calslappy. The guys that he fought were for a worthless belt. off of a worthless ranking system, and in a newbie division.

    /thread

    BTW bailey is Calslappy

An old post where details have altered slightly but you can get the idea

Where you have written for the WBO vs limited competition.
I just wanted to highlight some details to you.
The SMW divisions first world champs were WBC 1988, WBA 1987, IBF 1984 & WBO 1988.
Now for a start it is a new division so no belt has any more prestige than the other as they were all started at a similar time. So the WBO SMW title has no less prestige than the others.
Consider also that the WBO at SMW has been involved in 4 unification bouts.
The IBF has been involved in 2
    The WBA in 3
    WBC in 4 also
This shows that the WBO has been as willing to make top fights at SMW as much as any other governing body.

Now look at the list of champs in each and who they defended against and you can see that the WBO SMW title has produced the best defences overall better than all of the other govening bodies in this particular weight division so far.
Consider how much critism Bute gets now for his IBF defences.
Consider M Beyer defending his WBC title against 26-14-5 fighter who was coming off of a win against a 0-2-0 fighter
Or that Mundine when defending the WBA title against a 24-13-5 fighter who was the same fighter that WBC champ Beyer was defending against above.

People bring up Eubank who helped mould the belt that was good enough to give T Hearns a slice of history making. Out of Eubanks 18 WBO SMW title fights 14 of those fights were against fighters who were, had been or became top 10 SMWs. One was a unification and another was against the undefeated former IBF SMW champ (relinquished his title). In fact 6 of the fighters he faced had been or became world champs

Worthless? Slappy sold out arenas in the UK.

And the number he did on Hopkins and Jones was actually pretty funny, if you think about it.

American boxing fans have mocked Joe for years for not fighting their heroes. And suddenly he gets the job done, when one is old and the other shot, and proclaim himself a legendbeater. And all American fans goes "HEY, WHAT THE ****?!" I think it is hilarious, and I would have done the same thing if I had the opportunity
