This is it right here. Their first 2 fights were amazing and the third put it over the top.

I do hold the Riddick Bowe v Evander Holyfield trilogy in high esteem, due to the fact i was at two of the three fights, i was very involved in boxing around Vegas back then and it was the hottest ticket around, Those fights had an aura , i just can't describe ..

I remember the one thing Holyfield said to the press just before beating Bowe in the 2nd fight , for what remains the solitary loss that blemishes Riddicks record.. He said,

" Very rarely do i promise anything to anyone , with the fear i may not deliver, but I can promise you all, That i will beat Riddick Bowe tomorrow evening."

    And he did.

I'm waiting for the conclusion of the Valuev vs. Ruiz trilogy

Nah, Frazier vs. Ali, for sure.

It would have been Benn vs. Eubank if they had fought again though. :bbb

i'll go with Vazquez v Marquez. all 3 were brilliant. Barrera v Morales 2nd & 3rd fights werent half as good as the first, plus the knockdowns in Vazquez v Marquez and the dramatic finish wins it for me.

Those 2 trilogies are my fav`s aswell.

I think Morales-Barrera`s 1st fight & Ali-Frazier`s 3rd fight were the best of those 6 fights, in fact both rank in my top 3 fights ever.

Ali & Morales are my 2 all time fav fighters so I suppose the Ali-Frazier trilogy ended in the happier light from my point of view with Ali finishing 2-1 up & Erik 2-1 down but its really a toss up as to which trilogy was `the best.`

    :good

I personally think Gatti-Ward is overrated.

Very little technical ability compared to the others mentioned & their best fight, which was their 1st fight was a gift to Ward (I thought Gatti outboxed him comfortably) & the fight never really erupted til about half way thru.

Round 9 was stuff of legend tho & looked like a rocky film, it WAS a good fight but just doesnt deserve to be ranked with fights like Morales/Barrera I.

I started following boxing in the early 80's, and by the late 90's had kind of lost touch with the Sport almost fell out of love with it,
Gatti vs Ward changed all that for me even though like you say the technical ability was not as good as the other great Trilogy's the aesthetics of these fight's got me back into boxing again. These fight's were truly special.
As for the Rocky comment that's exactly what i was thinking while watching the fight.:bbb
