From what I’ve seen - it seems that established commentators and guest trainers sometimes show a bit of contempt toward boxers/ex boxer’s opinions.

During the call for Leonard vs Duran III, it seemed Clancy was always trying to challenge everything Marvin Hagler said.

I thought Hags was quite good and never mind that Hagler called it correctly in real time, noting that it was a punch that cut Ray in round 11(?). Clancy and Ryan (?) called it a head butt until the slo mo replay revealed otherwise. I didn’t hear any mea culpas from that pair.

I like George. Sure, some stuff he said was a bit out there but he also had to deal with some unnecessary push backs from Lampley and Merchant…and even with all that George still saved their butts, haha.

Jerry Quarry back in the day was really good. He was very insightful, had firm opinions and had a calm and mellow voice that was easy on the ear. He also did a bang on Muhammad Ali impression!

It’s a tragedy that he fought on for too long when he had a ready made career as a fight pundit really waiting him. He was a natural imo

Great call! How could I forget Quarry? Very intelligent and articulate. No disrespect but unless I’d simultaneously heard and saw Jerry speak before, I don’t know if I would’ve ever matched the voice and lucid opinions to the fighter.

That's the one. Funny bit was, my wife said let me speak to him. She said "In the film Raising Arizona, Tex stops his bike takes a grenade & throws it at the rabbit the rabbit sniffs it & it blows the rabbit to pieces that was very cruel" Tex roars with laughter & said " Darlin' that rabbit was nowhere near that grenade in fact the dummy rabbit was blown up the next day" LOL. That pleased her LOl Great guy Tex

Remember when Jim Lampley made a remark about Amir Khan I belueve that could be construed as anti-Islamic and George Foreman checked him. Give Big George kudos for cultural sensitivity.

Doesn’t fit exactly I guess but I really liked Burt Lancaster’s work in the FOTC documentary THE FIGHT.

Including a very serious Archie Moore teaching Burt how to properly jab and recoil.

LOL, the Old Mongoose even became a bit terse due to Burt not adhering exactly to instructions. Great stuff.
