Your favourite ESB classic moments

There are always interesting debates and whatnot going on, but three stand out for me.

The first was when I was still a lurker here. I had come from another site, and had registered with a few other boxing sites. I was lurking here one day, reading a fascinating thread in which Stonehands and John Thomas were trading blows like Ted 'Kid' Lewis and Jackie 'Kid' Berg, going at it back and forth.
The topic was Hagler vs. Ray Robinson, and I learned so much just watching these two go at it.
It was that debate that made me think that this was the place to be.

Another (also involving Stonehands) was Barbados Joe Walcott against Ray Robinson, and Janitor was in the opposite corner this time. It was a fantastic debate that lasted for several pages, with the two posters going at it tooth and nail. Classic stuff, literally.

The third topic that stood out for me was Amsterdam and Cross_Trainer (what happened to him, by the way?) debating old vs. new fighters, as Magoo has pointed out. Fantastic insights.

Anything by John Garfield is pure gold. I could read his accounts of fighters for hours.

I think McGrain's weekly picture thread could really take off. It has massive potential.

There are so many moments that occur on a reglar basis really; it's hard to isolate only a few. It's a pleasure to be here.

*The Pearls of the Orient thread was pretty incredible. Sweet_Scientist, Mantequilla, and RB at their best.

*John Garfield's first hand memory thread was wonderful.

*As a personal note, the ongoing debate between Sal and myself over who would emerge as the victor of a Sanchez-Pedroza match was a lot of fun.

 

About a year and a half ago, Cross_Trainer announced, that he was leaving ESB so that he could place all of his emphasis on more pressing matters in his life. He purposely had himself cancelled by the mods to avoid the temptation of loging back in. I haven't heard from him since. As for Amsterdam, its been quite some time since I've seen him post either, but don't know what his situation is..
