Thing is, the left hand landed that time so Cotto was in no position to come back with a counter... but that little flaw left him plenty open for right hand counters by JMM and Morales whenever he missed.

That little kink in Pac's game is something I think Floyd could fully exploit with that shouler roll, right hand counter of his.

Hey I will throw you a bone and say Mayweather's shoulder roll is effective, but probably should not be attempted by anyone that isn't in the top 15th percentile in athletic ability. It is "bad" defense because it REQUIRES a bunch of hard to quantify periferal talent, but in his hands it is very effective.
