What are your favourite go-to scientific fights?

I'm talking about two way battles fought at a very high skill level - they may have the odd brawl in them but fundamentally it's about two guys trying to out think each other - brain over brawn.

I'll start off with one of mine: Vicente Saldivar v Howard Winstone 2.

Miguel Canto vs Chan Hee Park. Very high paced, high skilled. An ATG fighting an ATG talent who is a style nightmare for him, but being too great to go down easily.

And I always appreciated the science of Leonard vs Benitez. The jabs of both in there were phenomenal.

Hearns v Benitez was a better scientific fight than Leonard v Wilfredo.

Norton v Holmes descended into a brawl at the end, pretty basic fight really, just Larry displaying his fast jab against the cross arm defense of Norton mostly.

Ezzard Charles vs Harold Johnson is my numero uno, but there's a bunch I like. Including, but not limited to:

    Veeraphol Sahaprom vs Daorung Chuvatana
    Marvin Hagler vs Roberto Duran
Fighting Harada vs Éder Jofre I
Tony Canzoneri vs Kid Chocolate I
    Alexis Arguello vs Ernesto Marcel
Éder Jofre vs José Medel I
James Toney vs Mike McCallum I
    Michael Spinks vs Qawi/E. Davis
Miguel Canto vs Shoji Oguma III
Tony Canzoneri vs Lou Ambers I
    Ernesto Marcel vs Kuniaki Shibata
Emile Griffith vs Luis Rodriguez I

It may be because I rewatched it a few days ago, but I think Saldivar-Laguna could make this list too.

McCallum vs Toney. The 1st one especially but all of them are good. Amazing defense and impeccable footwork displayed by both. Hardley ever will you see wasted energy from either guy. Everytime they throw a punch it's with perfect form and from a solid base.

Giardello vs Tiger. These guys fought four times and every fight went the full 15. Tiger was always coming forward with his steady pressure that used to break guys down while Giardello was always trying to turn him and attack from angles. Great well schooled pro's trying to impose their strengths on one another.

Charles vs Walcott. Pretty much the same type of chess match that Toney vs McCallum was. Both guys were incredibly skilled although I believe Charles was the superior fighter and Walcott being the naturally bigger guy helped him have more success against Charles.

Great example! Both guys are more known for there physical gifts in Corey's case his speed and in Zab's he had speed and power. I was at Spinks vs Judah II. Both guys were well schooled and came up in a golden age US amauter program. Spinks got to work with Kenny Adam's and of course Cunningham while Zab had his dad and an excellent New York network of trainers.

An inside note about the rematch, Spinks nearly didn't make weight and was completely drained on fight night. He walked around in the upper 170's and really should have been fighting at 154 at that point. The first fight was excellent though. Spinks had an excellent camp and game plan.

It also helped him a lot in the first fight ...coming into the ring 10lbs heavier

I love the story of how Zab Judah bet money on Cory Spinks to beat Ricardo Mayorga and won
