I'm going with Robinson by mid-round TKO. Just too much speed, power and fluidity.

Whitaker would give him trouble with the jab and craftiness, but overall he stood too flat-footed at 147 to keep Robinson off him for good, so I'd take Robinson to Decision him, likely either slowing him down in the later rounds to take them or causing Pea to fight a more defensive fight and taking them that way.

Pernell's my all-time fave welterweight fighter too. Have to agree with your outcome, good post.

Robinson KO5 Hearns. Tommy just didn't have the chin to win this one.

    Robinson mid round KO Hearns

Hearns has the advantage from long range and with his longer, free-flowing jab. He would probably find himself outboxing Robinson. But with Robinson's chin, his own speed and power, combined with his ability to make it a dog-fight, I see him closing the distance, absorbing some big shots in the process. He'd make this a war and simply put, Hearns didn't have the chin to beat Robinson in an absolute war.

i wouldent say hes my favorite but i admire emile griffith. he was a great fighter and i think he would have at least a 25-30% chance at upseting robinson, maybe even 50%.

in my eyes emile was that great.

See this post is what makes the classic forum shine. Sweet Pea is no apologist and this proves it. By the way, any statements I made to that effect in some of our early debates ...was wrong.

(...Now if I can only find someone to beat prime Duran.)
