Clearly Pacquiao. Won 3 times as "Fighter of the Year" (2009, 2008 and 2006) this decade.

Floyd won only once in 2007.

Better luck for other boxers next decade.

I think Ruiz passes Valuev in terms of title defenses and the
quality of opposition ... Ruiz always bring the fight to the fans.

Floyd, Calzaghe, Hopkins ..they aint fighters, they are boxers.
PAC is the only one who deserves to be called a fighter.

They talk about the 'championship rounds'. Well, as far as fighter of the decade is concerned, Floyd sat out the 'championship years'. He can't really complain.

Personally, I think he beats Pac wherever, whenever, but he took a rest during the years most people's memory is freshest about come decade's end.

    Exactly mate.

I equate what Mayweather did to Oscar De La Hoya flat out running from Tito Trinidad in the final rounds of their famous "Fight of the Millenium" and then shamelessly expecting the decision to be handed to him. Oscar may have looked the better boxer, but he lost. And he lost the right to complain about it pulling that ***** move. And whereas Trinidad didn't do anything special in that fight, Pac has been spectacular in the years Mayweather was hiding, err, retired, ahem.

Mayweather left the sport when his division was at it's hottest and their were plenty of marque matchups out there for him (Cotto, Margarito, Mosley, P.Williams). When he came back he chose to fight a lightweight and didn't even bother to honor the catchweight. In that time Pac made history with a series of amazing wins and definetly deserved FOTD. It was virtually unanimous and universal on all the lists I remember. It's absurdity that people are trying to deny him that honor now.

If mayweather never retired, he would still be p4p number 1 if he didn't get defeated in those 2 years and arguably he would have been the fighter of the decade.

However by retiring he let pac get all the lime light and now he is putting up a good fight to get it back. This will only be achieved when the two go head to head. And watch how fast these bandwagon jumpers (and im not talking about *******s) hop of pac dick when he loses to mayweather.

The thing is Pac has taken on guys in their prime that represented serious challenges, both in skill and more importantly in style. Marquez's style was terrible for Pac, but he accepted the challenge even though the money was not as great as it was with the other featherweights at the time.

Like it or not, Mayweather has always choosen his oppenent very carefully, and the risk must equal the reward. That is why he never fought Paul Williams, Margarito or Tszyu. All of those guys had styles Mayweather knew would give him trouble but they just didn't represent a high enough pay day. I think Mayweather's record at 140 was the most sketchy. At that time 140lbs was insanely deep but the only guy he was really interested in was Gatti, a guy who gets picked apart by boxers but always filled the seats.
