I definitely overestimated his jab I hold my hands up but he did look concerned and his own work suffered probably a combination of what you are saying and seeing someone take your shots flush and keep coming, I do also think that Joyce’s jab has never looked so good and again it could be because of Joyce’s head movements which again surprised me, he normally just eats shots that he doesn’t need to just to get in normally looking for the uppercut that he hardly ever has any success with, I hands up got this one massively wrong but I can’t believe he quit he was basically the home fighter and was going to get the decision, the reason I say he quit is because he wasn’t trying to hold and stay in he didn’t get desperate he just thought sack it iam out that is going to be hard to get over imo
Look at the official scorecard, it means judges are insane as me: John Latham 88- 83 DUBOIS Victor Loughlin 84 - 87 JOYCE Mark Lyson 86 - 85 DUBOIS https://boxrec.com/en/event/818449/2565030 Judges agree with me too, Dubois was ahead until KO.
1 Judge agreed with you. One had Joyce ahead clearly and other guy would have Joyce beaten Dubois after 12 because Joyce would have won the last three rounds. But i think you're a bit delusional anyway. We all know there are corrupt judges out there who either can't score for **** or doesn't want to score properly so saying one judge had it wide for Dubois is a sign your scorecard was fine is stupid af. Anyway...who cares...Joyce beat the living **** out of Dubois and beat his ass. Story ends here.
Joyce has always had a really good jab even back in his amateur days, it just looked even better last night because he was facing a guy with zero head movement. Yes Joyce sometimes eats shots, but that's because he's in with opponents he doesn't respect and is messing about. Like when he got hit with the body shot by Jennings, prior to that he was messing about throwing bolo punches. Joyce tends to fight down to the level of his opposition at times much like how Fury does. Fury can look ordinary vs a Wallin or Schwarz because he's not even trying to fight at 100% but when faced with a threat they elevate their game. So vs someone Joyce feels no threat by he'll try the mad uppercut you mentioned but will be far more selective when facing a threat. Him quitting was definitely a shock, I didn't see it coming as he had been fighting hard in bursts to try and stay competitive. For me it seemed to come out of the blue and it will be a choice he probably later regrets.
How the you know that "one judge would have Joyce beaten Dubois after 12 because Joyce would have won the last three rounds"? My scorecard rates first 8 rounds, like the official judges'. And majority of the judges agree with me, Dubois was winning the match by points, Dubois was stopped because his left eye completely shut down. In the 2nd round Joyce was close to being KOed. I am only as insane as the majority of the official judges with respect to Dubois vs Joyce match scoring.
Dubois really didn`t throw or land that many shots, Joyce through more shots mainly jabs and wa in control the whole fight.
I doubt he regrets it, given his eye socket is apparently busted. That said I think the ref wild have stopped the fight shortly thereafter, given the swelling getting worse and worse, and lack of vision, and that Joyce couldn’t miss that eye.
