I have seen a few punches in boxing over the years, where my involuntary reaction has been to think "I am glad that didn't him me!"

    Didn't M.Spinks hit Marvin Johnson with a bad-bass uppercut?

I thought great----Do not take this DKP fight to the scorecards.

Buster was dominating the guy A to Z, except for the 3 judges. Get the guy out of there and press on the gaspedal. If Buster has the conditioning--and he looked it for a change--put it in 4th gear and Tyson is out of there.

So often we see guys coast a little and glide to the finish line instead of getting the opponent out of there, who is ready to go. And we, the boxing fans have to put up with horrible decisions. Get the stoppage and do not let it go to the scorecards. That uppercut made sure the bout did not go to the scorecards.

I have a suspicious feeling that the way things were back then with Mr King, that if Tyson had some how survived to the end of the fight he'd have got the decision. And that's even with buster scoring a kd in the eleven and twelve!
Not quite sure if Douglas would have got a immediate rematch either.. King had a Lottaa sway and say back in the day .

In fact, Douglas got indeed robbed vs. Jesse Ferguson in 09/05/1985. Dominated the fight, but couldn´t hurt him again after he nearly ko´d Ferguson in the first round. I have no idea how they came up giving this one to Ferguson, who was dead lucky that night.
Maybe he wasn´t that lucky anymore after Tyson beat the **** out of him and broke his nose, with Douglas getting the fight at the right time.
If everything would have gone correctly, the Douglas fight vs. Tyson didn´t happen in 90.

There is a recent video in which Holyfield says he wasn't hurt; his corner threw in the towel too soon.

    Yeah, right.

Btw....it was disgraceful ho w Lewis held Grants head while thro wing that uppercut. Should have been a DQ.

I agree with the lewis point but he did that stuff all the time, it showed his ruthless streak which is needed. I didn’t feel it was necessary with grant though, it made for an ugly ko, he didn’t need to win a fight he was clearly in control of in that fashion, I would have preferred a cleaner ko.

As for that Douglas uppercut my first though was how he didn’t go down immediately from such a devastating shot, Douglas had to follow with three more punches to get him down. But yeah “your done” came to mind.

I wished I'd bet on Douglas; at 42-1, if I'd put everything on him, I'd be set for life.

One guy put $1,500 on Douglas at 38-1; he walked away with $57,000. Nice!

That's one side of the gambling. How would you like to be like all the guys backing Mike and trying to win say, just 2 or 3 grand?
