Alright, I haven't been watching boxing for that long, and I do appreciate the classics like Rumble in the Jungle, Benn vs Eubank, 'The War' etc. But for me, these are my five favourite fights of all time, probablly because I'm a big fan of those involved, the build up was excellent, the fights had lots of sustained aggression, bad feelings and genuine excitement. 1. Prince Naseem Hamed vs. Kevin Kelley 2. Felix 'Tito' Trinidad vs. Ricardo Mayorga 3. Oscar De La Hoya vs. Fernando Vargas 4. Frank Bruno vs. Oliver McCall 5. Lennox Lewis vs. Vitali Klitschko
Hmmm - 1 - Robinson LaMotta VI 2 - Louis Schmeling II 3 - Ali-Foreman 4 - Marquez-Pacquiao I 5 - Hopkins-Pavlik Right now, you understand. I like your picks, but i'd never watch Benn-G-Man again, personally.
Naz/Kelley was great, but anyone remember Mckinney/Jones on the undercard?? Almost as good. In no order: 1. Gatti/Ward I 2. Corralles/Castillo I 3. Bramble/Mancini 4. Augustus/Ward 5. Toney/McCallum I Could change tomorrow.
1. Barrera vs Mckinney This fight was easily the best fight of 1996, and so far I have yet to see another high-profile fight as action packed as this one. The shifts in momentum, and the amount of flush shots being landed was uneblievable. Both Mckinney and Barrera could hit, so it was even more special that neither of them got stopped early in the fight. From the opening bell to the knockout in round 12, not a dull moment. If you haven't seen it, go download it now. Round 6 is unbelievable! 2. Barrera vs Morales I I was convinced this was the greatest fight of all time until I saw the Mckinney fight. This was the two best best Mexican fighters of their generation meeting, and it did not disappoint. Sustained action throughout, and round 5 was one for the ages. I thought Morales was going on to stop Barrera, and then in a second, Barrera comes back with a rally of his own. Fantastic stuff. 3. Riddick Bowe vs Evander Holyfield I 4. Gatti vs Robinson 5. Cotto vs Margarito Some people argue that Marquez vs Vasquez 3 should win fight of the year, and based on sustained action, they would be right. However, Cotto vs Margarito was a huge event for all Boxing fans. We finally got a great matchup in the 147 division, one that has said to be stacked full of talent for a few years now. And we could garuntee a great fight with Cotto and Margarito and that's what we got. The drama of Cotto leading on the scorecards, occasionally getting hurt, and then being stopped late in the fight blew me away. The best fight I've ever seen live.
Too many to name really Hagler - Hearns Calzaghe - Lacy JMM - Pac Benn - Mcclellan Ali - Frazier i could quite easily list **** loadsa fights that i love to watch, i sometime enjoy watching dodgy fights aswel, ive watched Ruiz Vs Rahman 3 times...
Thanks man, I'm defo going to have a look at those Barrera fights. I loved Cotto vs. Margarito, absolutely gripping stuff. Whats that saying, the unmovable object vs. the unstopable force.
Vasquez vs Marquez III Cotto vs Margarito Hatton vs Tszyu Calzaghe vs Kessler Pacquiao vs Marquez I & II Benn vs Eubank I Castillo vs Corrales I Mayweather vs Corrales Tszyu vs Judah :rofl All high quality matches - Gatti vs Ward I was a great match, but not of the highest quality.
1. hagler vs hearns 2. gatti vs ward 1 3. taylor vs chavez 1 4. ali vs frazier 1 & 3! 5. Norton vs Holmes
Benn V Eubank 1, Castillo V Corales1, Gatti v Ward 1, Benn V Watson ( showed watson how good a fighter and boxer he was). Lewis V Rahman 2 just for that KO.
1. Monzon vs Valdez II 2. Monzon vs Benvenuti I 3. Marvin Hagler vs Tommy Hearns 4. Nino Benvenuti vs Emile Griffith I 5. Nigel Benn vs Chris Eubanks I 6. Julio Cesar Chavez vs Meldrick Taylor Modern David Haye vs Jean Marc Mormeck (I won a lot of money on predicting the exact round stoppage of this one, and again by prediciting the second round versus Enzo Mac, therefore they are fond in my heart)
Jermaine Taylor vs Cory Spinks. If you haven't watched it yet, do yourself a favor and do so immediately. Your excitement level will be through the roof (you might want to pop a few downers just to calm you down a bit).
In no order: 1) Gatti/Ward I, III The first was a timeless classic, the third was also a barnburner than I was lucky to watch live in AC. 2) Hagler/Hearns Didn't last long, but what a fight for a few great rounds. I was a huge Hagler fan and missed the fight live. I was a paperboy and the time and I remember seeing the headline on my stack of papers at 5am the next morning. I was pumped! 3) Castillo/Corrales I I think you can see the kinds of fights I like. Fighters don't have to be top level to deliver classic fights. 4) Duran/Leonard I What a crazy SOB Duran was! Hands of Stone took Leonard to task that night, mugging and smiling as he attacked like a pitbull. And Leonard's stock went up in that fight too. 5) Foreman/Moorer Inspiring and funny at once, it was great to see this balding behometh of a man plod around the ring for 10 rounds and then catch Moorer with a perfect, fight ending shot. BONUS: Foreman insisting he planned the action all night, with Moorer bitterly calling bull**** on him. So great. These are five off the top of my head. With more thought, they'd probably change. But you can't go wrong with those.
Gatti vs Ward I Corrales vs Castillo I All 3 Vazquez vs Marquez Foreman vs Lyle Mayweather vs Corrales
