What has been (yearly) your favourite fights this century? No in depth research required, just the first fight you think of when you think back to that year.

    2000 - Garcia vs Tackie
    2001 - Trinidad vs Joppey
    2002 - Gatti vs Ward
2003 - Toney vs Jirov (Barrios vs Freitas close 2nd)
2004 - Trinidad vs Mayorga (Pacquiao vs Marquez close 2nd)
    2005 - Corrales vs Castillo
    2006 - Brewster vs Liakhovic
    2007 - Cotto vs Judah
    2008 - Diaz vs Katsidis
    2009 - Mosley vs Margarito
    2010 - Khan vs Maidana
    2011 - Kirkland vs Angulo
    2012 - Pacquiao vs Marquez 4
    2013 - Froch vs Groves 1
    2014 - Matthysse vs Molina
2015 - Kovalev vs Pascal (slow year)
    2016 - Thurman vs Porter?

    Thoughts?

    Anything obvious I've missed?

I think it's strange I could only think of 1 heavyweight fight that was clearly foty. 1/16 not great for the apparent glamour division.

As this thread has had plenty of traction I'm thinking of doing a classic forum consensus fight of the decade. Any input would be appreciated on that.

Not strange at all. Heavyweight boxing is overrated.

    I know its sacrilegious to some but I rank Morales-Pacquiao I over Corrales-Castillo (2005).

Maybe this century so far, however the 90's stand outs were Bowe vs Holyfield, the 80's Holmes vs Norton and 70's Ali vs Frazier. We've yet to have that kind of dramatic top fight, only Lewis vs Klitschko has come close.
That's fair enough, It's subjective of course. I'm personally in the crowd that didn't like the 10th round due to Corrales spitting the gumshield out, bought him time and affected the ending no doubt.

I actually thought Cotto-Torres was more fun to watch, too.
