The best way to score any fight is to turn of the sound so you don’t hear the commentators especially Bob Sheridan who was a pro king commentator my Holmes v Norton scorecard is : 143 to 142 Holmes
An interesting piece of advice, I’ll apply it. Commentators often have their favorites and scream wvery time they land a punch.
Holmes 144-141. Larry swept the first 4 or 5 rounds. Thought it was a close but clear decision for Holmes
I don’t remember how I score it round by round, but I had Norton winning by 2 rounds, Holmes took the early rounds and dominated them, but Norton took him into deep waters and stole the fight IMO. Prime Norton would beat Holmes convincingly (in a competitive fight) IMO, all wrong for him stylistically.
Larry Holmes vs Ken Norton 1 Holmes 2 Holmes 3 Holmes 4 Holmes 5 Holmes 6 Holmes 7 Norton 8 Norton 9 Holmes 10 Norton 11 Norton 12 Norton 13 Holmes 14 Norton 15 Norton 143-142 Holmes 1 Holmes 2 Holmes 3 Holmes 4 Holmes 5 Holmes 6 Holmes 7 Holmes 8 Norton 9 Norton 10 Norton 11 Norton 12 Norton 13 Holmes 10-8 14 Norton 15 Norton 143-141 Holmes I've scored it twice in the last 2 years the 2nd time i watched it was in high quality 60 fps i think i'm one of the few that gave Holmes a 10-8 round in the 13th round. But when i watched it again i thought it was a very strong round for Holmes he had over a minute of hitting Norton at will with right hands and i think Norton was actually in quite alot of trouble when the bell rang.
Like when I watch Bob Sheridan of Lewis v holy 2 I think holy won … when I watch hbo version Lewis won and When I watch it with sound off Lewis 116/ 113 closer but holy fought in spurts I noticed !!!! best way to score sound off with nobody around doing your own commentary lol - but it works
I had Larry winning eight of the first ten rounds. I'll review and break down those rounds sometime later with the sound off.
By a margin of about 9-6 I gave it to Holmes. Norton took too long to get going - but perhaps showed enough to suggest he’d have won it were he four or five years younger. Holmes sure never wanted to see him again.
