I agree, I also see Ali over Louis, at least with the prime Ali. Louis was like a battleship, he could demolish you with his punching at any time, but he wasn't great on his feet and a good dancer could give him trouble.

That's pretty crazy. Tunney was a beautiful fighter and one of my favorites from any weightclass, but Foreman is huge, incredibly powerful and a huge puncher. I don't have the confidence to predict smaller old-timers over the big men of today, at least with most matchups.

I agree. I think that the Ali that roped the dope Foreman in Zaire would probably be TKO'd by Wladimir or Lennox, or UD'd by Vitali. Fairly bold, but I'm confident in that.

I'm convinced that Lennox or either Klitschko brother would probably beat and possibly batter Foreman. Wladimir might get caught, but I think Vitali would be his worst nightmare and Lennox would hurt him. A taller, bigger man jabbing Foreman mercilessly and backing it up with supreme power would be right style-clash to beat young Foreman, IMO.

 

I ain't sure about the Klitschko's, but Lewis would **** Foreman up.... late TKO.

Jim Jeffries never fought a man over 200lbs , till he came back and got crucified by Johnson.

 

Heeney was a fat 5'9 203lb with no power in his punch. Tunney did not take on a big natural heavyweight with a punch so he is untested. He also never took on a black fighter, so that eliminated 50% of tough opposition. If tunney had taken on godfrey, then he would have a much better idea how this fight would go. Besides, I dont think Gene would take on Big George. If Tunney wouldn't fight Godfrey, no way would he take on Foreman.

I can't in good faith project Tunney against a Foreman or Liston when he didn't fight any large heavyweights.

 

I beleve that Tyson would beat Ali prime vs. prime and that Bowe would have beaten Lewis from 1992-1995.

I think that might depend on where Tunney was in the ratings,if he was being considered for a title shot he probably would not fight Godfrey,it wouldn't make much sense .If he needed to break in to the top slots I think he would, he had his sights set on Dempsey for quite a while ,before Jack went downhill ,Tunney was a pragmatist, he did what was needed.

Heeney was a natural heavyweight and scaled up to 218lbs,he was no world beater ,but good enough to beat.

I know it's probably not this thread's purpose to argue or debate these controversial picks, but nevertheless, there's no way, on his best night that Carlos Palomino would ever be able to beat prime Jose Napoles.

 

I actually give Lewis and Vitali Klitschko the rare chance at upsetting Ali, especially Lewis if he fought his "plan B" style of conservative, cautious boxing.

 

Vitali over Ali? this is ridiculous. Vitali has to be the most overatted heavyweight of all time for never recording a win over a in shape prime good fighter
