I don't agree with the mention of Ali. I think people have him pegged just right, with an observable influx of unreasoning, revisionist detractors. It's silly, but some people still have a hard time placing a finger on the man's prime performances, despite film being readily available. He's flawed and beatable, of course, but lately he's been squarely undersold.

I could also take issue with Norton, who, if anything, has been unfairly pigeonholed as a hapless knockout victim. Has he been picked to triumph over anybody above his talents in recent memory? Is he regularly seen proclaimed as a head-to-head monster in these parts? For my money, not enough attention is given to the fact that the man was poison for would-be boxers, which he absolutely was!

Heavyweight: Ali (not that he wasn't great, just not as great as many protray
    him to be)

    Non heavyweight: Joe Calzaghe

I know his career is far from over....but...Canela Alvarez is really overrated and over hyped.

I would have to say at HVY, Joe Louis.... Take away Max Baer as a win, and his resume not up to the best.

Below that.... I would say Hector Camacho.

Grebb , Langford and all those guys. No doubt they were tough but the skills and craft weren't around in those days.
Boxing back then was still in its transition from bare knuckle dust ups to a noble sport.
And they only ever beat burly boys who tugged steam boats.

Not till Johnson , Louis, Robinson came along did it become a science and sport of great skill.

Greb never fought either of them and Johnson beat Langford. He didn't want to fight him again because he wanted to draw the colour line himself.
All you got to go on is newspaper decisions. Who the hell knows what was really going on back then. The game was managed tighter than a whure's birth control.

Listen mate. Everyone from Duran to Ali was mentioned in here but once you bring up Greb , people lose their chit. Why is that. The even called him the human windmill for God sake.

In the widest sense, it's all heavyweights. Tyson and Ali especially by my eye.

On here - Jack Dempsey and Ike Williams.

 the rest of the board lost him some time ago.

Not usually on non-heavyweight discussions though, to be fair.
