Overrated: Mike Tyson
Underrated: Mike McCallum

 

Yeah, the 2nd fight was a total mess, the less said about that farce, the better, that fight absolutely stunk of a fix. I've jumped the gun with what you mean by overrated, if you still have him as number one then I can't argue that either way. I don't think the first fight was close, apart from that suspicious round when Ali's eyes were mysteriously burning. I thought Ali controlled the ring, tempo, and his head movement was excellent; it was one of his best performances in my opinion. Liston is a legend, some great wins, but from what I've seen, people rate him quite fairly.

Underrated- old foreman

 

Old Foreman is OVERRATED

lost wide to Morrison, struggled immensely with Alex Stewart, Schulz and Savarese,

 

Simple. I think people underestimate Liston due to his loses vs Ali while not looking at / understanding the circumstances of those 2 matches.
Liston was older than stated (most likely around 40), did not train properly cause he underestimated Ali and had a recurring shoulder injury in their 1st bout.
And he took a dive in the 2nd.
Plus Ali was a bad matchup for Liston stylistically. Ali's speed was always gonna be a problem for even a fresh younger Liston.

 

He did, that was when it was possible to out hustle James. Toney appeared to have lost some of his fire and perhaps confidence when he moved to 175. He was also hitting larger fighters in general so he wasn't the force offensively we remember compared to his days in the middleweight classes.
They were hard to watch fights for a Toney fan.

 

He was never the same after leaving Bill Miller.

I don’t think that he lost both fights though.
