Your New Idea's and Concepts To Make Boxing Better

If we are to have so many "world titles" I think an agreement should be made that no-one is allowed to defend their title against someone lower than 4th in the ratings. I will never respect the alphabet titles but this would be a step in the right direction.

Secondly, although possible the least likely to happen, I would like to see a ban on fighters signing exclusivity contracts with promoters. I think the governing bodies should announce what fights are to be made and allow all promoters a chance to bid on each and every fight. This would, in theory, eliminate the possibility of two fighters failing to meet each other simply because one is, for example, Don King and the other with Bob Arum.

 

The worst thing about boxing in a sick way is the best thing.

Politics hinder the biggest fights happening regularly but when a big fight comes together,the buzz you get on fight night is unbelievable,some fights are literally years in the making.

Judging is something which has to be overhauled completely.

 

I agree totally.

The best thing about boxing is it's a totally free market. Money talks, bull**** walks, so to speak.

On judging, the system is a disgrace. Completely unfit for purpose and too subjective.

I'd like to see the end of 10 pt. must and (although I was shot down for it before) more judges.

On the 10 pt. must systems, can anyone give me a clue as to its origins?

 

There are too many dodgy rankings and champions. I personally wouldn't go as far as saying I'd like to see just one champion per division (I think it would be interesting to have 2) but I think the governing bodies do need a shake up so that we could eliminate some of them and ensure fairness in the ones left. It's crazy that a fighter isn't ranked by one organisation just because he is high up or a champion of another.

The judging system needs to be looked at too. There have been too many disputable decisoins this year and it's damaging the sport. Not sure what I'd propose to fix it but being clearer and more consistent about the way in which a fight is scored may help.

 

Set up a universal governing body (FIBA) and elect representatives from each respective board of each country.

Disqualify all 'charity' governing bodies.

Nominate each champion to face off in mini tournaments. Rid all non essential titles.

Universal Governing body to recieve applications for voluntary title defences. Applications to be approved by majority decision.

Universal Governing Body to generate own ratings in each division. Appeals can be administered via the 'sanction fee' which is to always be fair and never exceed 10% of gross profit per show.

Magazines/ Websites and Broadcasters to ignore all titles unless the FIBA have approved.

FIBA to have there own website where fans can find out about each of the champion with links to their websites, videos and also a brief career/life story.

Music and beer at all boxing shows between rounds.

Screens at all boxing shows where possible.

Greater care paid to production of programmes.

Consensus scoring to be put in place with five judges for all major title fights. Referees to be approved by FiBa prior to world title performances.

Oh yeah... this would start sorting the **** out.

 

How about judges who are respected and involved with the sport in some way.

 

Apply the rules and punish boxers for clinching. It's annoying, it's against the rules and worst of all: it bores the public. First clinch: warning, second: point deduction, etc...
Pushing this through might lead to a few disqualifications in the beginning, but it would be worth it.

Exactly what i meant.You dont think for one second i would suggest that shooting a promoter would improve boxing do you!

 

Make the gloves alot smaller. Boxers are just not skillful anymore. We need to get back to the early day's of the sport plus all those guys who think they can take a punch to land one because they are the prospect will have to actually learn the trade.

 

15 rounds and one ranking organisation; seperate the men from the boys.

Regular fights between top opposition.

If Valero were fighting in the 40's/50's he'd have fought Katsidis, Funeka, Soto and Guzman within three months, to put things into perspective.

Sadly, the state of the game WILL NEVER ALLOW IT TO HAPPEN.

 

I must say small gloves make fighters throw less combinations and turn the punches over incorrectly.

Depends how small you mean I guess? The kinda' gloves Gavilan/Robinson wore would be ideal for me:good
