Then why do you think Interbox tried to negotiate a fight with cruiserweight Danny Green?

Nevertheless that's what happened the week after Pascal was turned down allegedly due to Bute not wanting to move up to a catchweight. :yikes

Showtime is not letting this guy fight bums, no way, his next fight i am sure is just to get things started. He should be fighting a top guy pretty soon.
Hopkins would be great, at a catchweight or somthing.

If he fights a big name after Magee then it's all forgotten, but there is no doubt that he has been matched carefully. The boxing talent is there and like previously mentioned he should have moved up for one fight at 175 and would have got fairly easy wins against Pascal and Cloud in big fights.

He's a hometown darling, looking to make the easy buck. It aint nothing wrong in it really, he does not have my support however, I think him and his team are clowns, they're punking boxing fans in Canada, and you got some real boxing fans in Canada. Fortunately you have guys like Pascal who are willing to take on the best, and Lemieux who looks to be a real banger.

Pascal has said he'd fight Bute anytime anywhere, but he's the sheriff so Bute should move up if he wants to make a superfight. A notion to which Bute has not answered, but we ALL KNOW hes content fighting the Brinkleys and Magees of the world.

I think everyone can agree that we want to see him against the best sooner than later but lets stop panicking like drama queens...

Bute is 30 and gonna be 31 late February. He has joined Showtime for the very reason to face the best possible challenges. Showtime is paying him big bucks every bout for him to fight the best available challenger at 168lbs, therefore it's only a matter of time. Showtime is not in it just to see the Magee-Bute fights...

Lets not forget that Hopkins waited til' he was 36 before he met a real challenge worth talking about in the boxing world.

Calzaghe waited til' he was 3 weeks away from his 34th birthday before stepping up to a so-called challenge and unify belts with Lacy.

Carl Froch waited til' he was 2 months shy of being 32 before he finally faced a challenge in Taylor...

What counts most now is that the circumstances are lined up to see Bute fight top competition at 168lbs. Sit back..relax..it'll happen in 2011 ;)

I'm in two minds about his resume. Is he fighting the best? Obviously not but that's an impossible task considering the best three, Froch, Kessler and Ward, are all tied up in the Super 6. However, he could be doing more to make other fights happen.

I don't think he could make 160lbs but how about 175lbs? I find it hard to believe that in two fights, the best possible opponents are Magee and Brinkley. He should be doing more than that and everyone involved, including him, should realise they need to be doing more than that. The chances are, unless he steps up, he's going to go from fighting a koala bear to a grizzly and he'll lose. You don't go from fighting Miranda, Brinkley and Magee to Froch or Ward and win. It's not going to happen. What will happen, is something like what happened with Dawson and it was the reason I predicted he'd lose against Pascal despite being the better fighter. When he fought old guy after old guy, he wasn't prepared for an athletic, young, fast fighter like Pascal, so he lost. That will happen to Bute if he isn't careful.

That said, I know the competition isn't outstanding, so it's hard to be too critical. I think he and his fans should realise that, even if he doesn't have a lot of options, he should be looking for the most difficult fights possible. He needs those tough fights if he's going to be the man a 168.
