I agree with you. I hate when ppl are saying that the s6 winner will get out all whorn out and don't take into consideration that the man that will exit victorious had experienced so many differit styles at the highest lvl... so he had grown in those fights and gain a lot of experience... while Bute didn't had a fight in witch he could really improve and gain experience since Andrade1. And it looked to me in the Brinkley fight that he's starting to look for the ko punch to much.Hopfully when he will fight the best he will get out of his head the idea that he needs to ko everybidy and start using his jab and box more.

I agree. I think that's why he should look for the best opponents possible because, as you said, in the Brinkley fight, he showed a few bad habits. Boxers do learn these things and it's a hugely negative thing if they do because it's not something they can change in the course of a fight. If a fighter starts to look for one big shot and gets away with it again and again, they will suffer eventually. That's what I think may happen to Bute, if he isn't careful.

He needs good opposition right now or he isn't going to beat Froch or Ward. These guys are being tested physically and mentally in each fight. Look at how Froch added a whole new dimension to his game and Ward changed completely from the Kessler fight to Bika. That's good progress and, if anything, Bute is going in the opposite direction. When he steps up, Froch, if he wins, will be battle tested against Taylor, Dirrell, Abraham, Pascal and Kessler, all of who are very different fighters. If he's facing Bute in his first fight after the Super 6, he's going to be against a guy who hasn't faced a top class opponent in a long time and that will show.

That's why people shouldn't overly defend Bute because they're his fans. Like I said, I don't think he deserves a lot of criticism for his recent opposition, because it is limited, but he needs to step it up or he'll eventually lose when he may not need to. The more people blindly defend him, the less reason for Bute to step it up. Proper support would be to acknowledge that the opposition he's faced in recent fights, is a hindrance in the long term.

I'm not a huge fan but he's good for boxing. Canada has great fans too, so I'm glad to see they've got another fighter they can fully support.

No, Bute was mentaly ready a few years ago, the man should never use this as a reason. Lemiux is green an should not jump into the deep end. But bute is at a time of sink or swim. What bute is doing now, is he selling out 15 thounsand seats every time he fights in canada, an that is alot of money, an alot reason to take on the brinkley of the world, BUT to me he has got step foward, an go for it now, he has got a challenger in froch, who wouldn't mind to fight in cananda, he sould take it now. Showtime is paying him now, he should consider a fight in Vegas now, against hopins or ward
I love his style, i really enjoy watching his fights, i got several DVD, i don't think he is scared, i think he joined showtime to get these matches, but now he got to take it,

I feel you're jumping the gun and over-analysing his "fighting style" in the Brinkley match.
Thing is, he KOed Brinkley 3 times in that fight. The referree kept extending the fight with long counts everytime Jesse went down. Since Bute felt the fight was already over and won, I don't think you can blame him for looking to finish it more expeditively with a big shot that Brinkley wouldn't get up from anymore.
And looking for the big punch to close out a fight that was over in all but name doesn't mean he now has a habit of looking for the KO punch. He'll outbox Froch and batter him from pillar to post when they meet, don't worry about that.

Also, stop overrating the "Super6" participants. Going from Miranda to Ward is not like jumping from a teddy bear to a grizzly bear. Your so-called grizzly couldn't even dispatch the teddy bear.
And seeing how easy Bute made the fight with Miranda look, I don't see why he'd be overwhelmed by Ward or Froch or Abraham or whoever.
I mean, what if he pummels and KOs them in about 6 rounds when he meets them? He'd have been ducking Golovkin or whoever else he didn't get around to thrashing by then, right?

If you think Miranda is his best opponent, you are the chump. You should be ashamed to be so ignorant.

I only defend Bute from being a ducker or afraid of the other boxers. I think his promoter has to take some of the responsability, because Bute is a proud athlete, willing to take anybody. I know that but it's a fact he's facing the same kind of boxers he was fighting 3 years ago.

That being said, Bute makes his fights look very easy because he is very good. I really hope that he can step up in 2011.

Who cares who calls out who anyway? This isnt elementary schoolyard fighting.

Calling out doesn't mean much. Negotiations do. Bute signed with Showtime with the intent of facing the s6 winner?

That's infinitely more important than words.

It shows to fans that you have the desire to face someone. Hiding behind a promoter is boring and just goes to show what a protected champion you are. A "world champion" shouldn't be at the stage where he's still saying "I'll fight whoever my promoter puts in front of me", that's just novice. Any champion thats worth anything would be calling out the top players in his division and trying to unify. Instead Bute signs with Showtime, and proceeds to negotiate to fight a nobody in Brian Magee, at home again. It's the same old song and dance from Bute and his promoter.

It wasn't really a big fight..don't get it twisted. They were both young bucks going for their first title bout, fighting on the undercard that night.....

Ultimately, they're just words. You can mention every name out there but it doesn't mean much without real negotiations. If you really have interest in an opponent, get into negotiations. Bute deserves criticism if he fights scrubs and praise if he fights good opposition. But I don't put that much emphasis on interviews and whom a fighter verbally claims he wants to fight.

Aaron Pryor called out Ray Leonard all the time but turned down the fight when it was offered.

Miguel Cotto usually gives the boring old "my team picks the fight" answer, but his resume from 07 on speaks for itself.

I do like to hear what a fighter has to say and whom he wants, but I don't take it that seriously. There's what is said in front of a camera and what is done behind the scenes with lawyers and contracts. Or a fighter can "want" to fight a certain opponent, but some fighters will pressure or push their promoter to make the fight, while others just bull**** or price themselves out.

SOB Ward refused to fight in the tournament unless he got all his fights in his home town! Ward did not want Bute in the tournament either. Bute is best 168 lb. fighter today.

He's a little of this a little of that.

Positives: He's a power-puncher, a guy who can give you an exciting highlight reel knockout. He's one of those rare power-punchers who are actual technicians, guys who don't forsake the body, and have athleticism and speed so they don't get reduced to a puncher's chance against a great athlete.

Negatives: He's been, for however much he is in control of it, the stereotypical "hoarder" of a belt, defending against okay guys in his own turf while big names are mixing it up.

Personally, I like Bute, and like to watch him work. But his career is very frustrating too, in terms of the light historical significance his reign may end up having if nothing changes and it's a shame, because his talent warrants so much more of a chance to shine than against okay challengers like Jesse and Edison.
