Slight change of subject but why the hell would Arthur Abraham fight a February tune-up prior to fighting Ward ? I thought the S6 semi-finals were scheduled for March or early April the latest...

In normal circumstances, the final bout should be no later than September 2011.

Bute's management makes Bute look bad. He doesn't need my help. Asking for a fight against a cruiserweight after turning down an LHW citing weight is just terrible.

The winner of the Super Six should not grant Bute a shot until Bute demonstrates he is worthy of fighting elite level opponents. Bute should fight either the runner up or the two defeated semi-finalists and demonstrate he is an elite 168lber by winning that fight/those fights.

I agree with you on that one. Bédard looked like an extra-terrestrial when he said that. I wondered at the time if he knew the difference between Allan Green and Danny Green. Then, I realized he didn't know that Danny had became a cruiser. Anyway, I've never seen the point in a fight against Green.

Showtime has signed Bute for that purpose. Ward has said many times that the winner would have to face Bute after the tournament.

Obviously, the boxing industry doesn't think the way you do.

Well, if it makes money, it makes sense... for Ward. Sensibly, Bute isn't going to risk this potential match up by fighting anyone with a pulse.

However, I think it would be different if Froch wins the Super 6 as I suspect that Froch wouldn't give Bute the time of day, regardless of what Showtime want.

1.Bute is the best Canadian based fighter.
2.He is stuck because of the super 6.
3.Bute vs the winner of the super 6 will happen.
4.Bute vs Pascal will happen and will be the biggest Canadian fight ever.
5.Bute is not improving right now.
    6.Bute is not avoiding anyone.

For the record I have nothing against Bute and I think highly of him. I'm just so dissapointed in his choice of opponents. I don't give that much about the supersix excuse as there have been excellent fights for him to take. At least far better options than Miranda, Brinkley, Magee and Mendy.

I'm disappointed also about his recent opponents but I don't feel he had really better to choose from.

Ward refused to fight unless he got all his fights in his home town. Ward did not want Bute in tournament and I don't blame him. Ward will never fight Bute. Bute is best 168 lb. champion today.

I agree that it seems they are looking to line him up against the SS winner. Personally, I think that makes a mockery of the SS because it was supposed to leave no doubt who the man at 168 is and what if Bute were to immediately beat the winner? I also agree with the guy you were responding to that Bute should have to fight a couple upper-echelon fighters in the division, perhaps a couple participants in the SS, before getting a crack at the winner otherwise he's just getting a free pass to the "final" by beating lower-level fighters while all the other top guys in the division have battled it out. This is what I'd like to see but probably not realistic. Hell, even the winner could lose during this time which would suck all the anticipation out.

Bute will have to get in line. Kessler has the first shot if he gets healthy.

Bute should fight one of the 3 other semifinalists before getting a crack anyway IMO.
