I've only seen his recent match with Campbell, but from what i see he's an excellent lightweight contender. He's got a lot of power, good handspeed and a high workrate..... plus, at 6'1" his opponents have an ocean to overcome just to reach him. On the downside, like most tall, lanky boxers his durability isn't the best, but it was good enough to go the distance with and nearly beat Nate Campbell, who is a pretty hard puncher himself. In my opinion, it was one of those losses where you gain respect rather than lose it. I'd like to see him fight Casamayor, Katsidis, Diaz, Guzman or any of the other top lightweights. It's a great division at the moment.
Agreed,he is a top contender.Without the KDs he would have beaten Nate. I'd like to see him against Julio Diaz and get a win on television to really become a name, also see if Julio has anything left.
I think Funeka fought excellent considering that was his first big fight. He'll pose a difficult fight for most other LW's.
Funeka is a exciting fighter with good size, power and workrate he will be ducked by all the big names because of this.
A smaller Paul willaims! He is going to be the man @ 135. If he can get the fights. He's skilled, freakishly long and has a **** load of stamina. He lost to Nate barely but the best is yet to come fom Ali.
He scares me, I don't want to look at him. Other than that he belongs in the mix at 135, though I don't see him reigning.
Actually! I'm happy you brought this fight up. It would be a great test for Ed. I think Ali would win.....possibly by KO. But almost certain by UD. Ed is very powerful but lacks some skills that would be necessary to get on the inside and avoid all the punches that would be coming at him. Great fight for the fans but no so much for Valero.
