Since we'll have to continue waiting for the Dream fight between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr. The only thing we can do now is debate on who the best pound-for-pound active boxer is of our time. Obviously, it is between Manny "Pac-Man" Pacquiao and Floyd "Money" Mayweather Jr. Although I favor Mayweather's style of boxing more because I am a "hit and not get hit" type of fighter; I still label Pacquiao as my pound-for-pound best boxer based on these guidelines: Quality of opposition Win-Loss Record Overall Skill & Performance Title held or currently held
hmm I look at recent form (say last 5 fights), on top of that you gotta look at the quality of opposition the skills the boxers showed and performance against top fighters dont really mind anything else. i dont think the long history defines the current pound for pound best, only the recent. the long history should be used to define legacy
FM is the best boxer in the world. MP knows this, thats why he backed out of the fight. Both are an embarrassment to the sport. The end.
Pacquiao is a better fighter. Pac is still an average to small JrWW who has stepped up to these big sized JrWWs and WWs and making them look like garbage. Just think about how good a p4p fighter Pac has to be to even be able to force almost even odds against a guy like Floyd at 147. Or to be a favorite against Cotto at 145 and then whip his ass from pillar to post. If he's on roids, which I doubt, then thats another story altogether. But if he isn't then this isn't really much of a debate, he's obviously the best there is right now.
