What do you think of these guys as trainers: SR., Roach, N Richardson, and Emanual Stewart. Not trying to know your opinions about their personal lives. Just Training.
To each is to his own...All have had success with their fighters...But the one that stands out to me (just my personal opinion) is Nazim....He seems to be a DAMN good teacher of the sport...He gives a direct game plan and he tends to have good advice in between rounds! He gets straight to the point and tell it like it is!:good
Steward is clearly the most accomplished,Roach is at the top right now after guiding Pac to multiple world titles and helping him becoming the best fighter in the world and cause of that hes probably the most sought after boxing trainer in the world,Nazim has stepped out of the shadow of other trainers like Bouie Fisher and has been making a name for himself in the last couple of years working and doing a great job with fighters like Shane Mosley and Bernard Hopkins,Sr is simply garbage and a scumbag that basically cant help anyone other than himself.
Steward to me was always generally good with guys that have talent and size and a good jab. Roach can mold you over the years and can work with any style. Nazim is very good for working gameplans meticously. Floyd sr. is only good with guys naturally gifted with skills.
you know i have never really paid attention to Nazeem... I will watch mosley tonite and listen in on the corner. I actually think all of the trainers are good in there own way themselves. I try not to pay attention to the fighter because you have to distinguish a good trainer from a trainer who just has a good fighter. you know? Ex alton merkerson (sp). RJJ is great so alton never really had to train/teach him. However, when roy got in trouble alton didnt know what to do....
You only have to watch the Hatton 24/7 to see how bad a trainer Mayweather Sr. is. Turning up hours late to training sessions coz he's too busy stuffing his face at Taco Bell? Ridiculous. Completely abandoning your fighter after he loses? What a c*nt.
Indeed, thats why he never stays with a fighter for more than a couple of fights, even his son never wanted to go back to him and its easy to understand why,he spends most of the time trying to be the star of the show instead of working and helping his fighter.
Well I will say this, From what we saw on a TELEVISION show that doesnt show everything, I would say SR failed Ricky hatton. NOT 100% because hatton failed himself too. But that wasnt a good look. But it hard for me to still throw him down because of his time with Dawson and Oscar... They used/kept him for a reason! Not to mention he is why Jr is what he is. All his circus acts need to stay in the tent though so more people can take him seriously but then again I look at everything as a way to get more $$$$. Whether its the show producers telling him to act that do this or do that...Bottom line i dont put anything past anyone if its gonna get them more money $$$. I just cant see Laila wanting him, oscar with him for 7yrs and chad dawson if he was garbage.
all of them are exceptional except Floyd Sr. Floyd Sr. is riding the coattails of his son now. He never was a great trainer or fighter for that matter. Roger was the better fighter by far.
IMO the advice he gave Mosley was short, sweet and straight to the point...I see what you're saying though...Alton was a good match for Roy...He knew Roy like a book and you can tell they had chemistry.
