Roach will be a bigger decider than either of these athletes in my opinion. Well, not bigger, but pretty important. He's studied Floyd and knows he'll try and adjust. They're not going to come with just one gameplan, and Floyd does not pursue combinations after landing counters like Marquez does. Manny takes this.

Why throw moar when less is moar?

    Hypothetically? Floyd wide UD.

In reality? Floyd might get stopped or taste the canvas, but he stands a good chance of winning more rounds and getting the decision in a close hard fight.
I'd put money on floyd decision.

Is it against a speedy fleet-footed aggressor with immense stamina? People point to Marquez as evidence Floyd can counter Manny easily, but Marquez pressed the action advancing with various shots to the body and head whenever he landed a counter in two high speed bouts. I'm not saying Floyd's stylistic advantage isn't there, but it's not the same dynamic as those two fights. Floyd is a different animal, so the fight will be a different set of circumstances with some basic similarities.

Marquez didn't throw as much as people make it out to be:

That comes out to about 43 per round which is 3 over what Floyd averaged in his last two fights of 40.

When I was watching the fight Marquez best punches were the counters, potshots, and 2 hit combos. The kind of shots Floyd excels at.

Floyd hits the body fine against southpaws. Zab Judah was getting a beating with left hooks and right hands to the body.

When Marquez did throw combos at manny it seemed moar reactionary. emmanuel managed to tag him clean so the Mexican in him forced him to come back right away with a combo. You could see the motivation on emmanuel's face whenever Marquez was drawn into "his game".

I could care less. People say that's the old pacman, but Floyd is a much better counter puncher than Marquez.
