I know this has probably been done more than any other thread but I havent seen it in a while & its always interesting to see everyone`s choices. Here`s mine in no order.... SUGAR RAY ROBINSON MUHAMMAD ALI ROBERTO DURAN SUGAR RAY LEONARD WILLIE PEP JOE LOUIS JULIO CESAR CHAVEZ PERNELL WHITAKER ALEXIS ARGUELLO MARVELOUS MARVIN HAGLER :thumbsup
I'd get sick of writing this list if it wasn't so compeltely correct 01 - Sam Langford 02 - Sugar Ray Robinson 03 - Harry Greb 04 - Henry Armstrong 05 - Ezzard Charles 06 - Mikey Walker 07 - Willie Pep 08 - Roberto Duran 09 - Archie Moore 10 - Bob Fitzsimmons
1 Sam Langford 2 Harry Greb 3 Sugar Ray Robinson 4 Henry Armstrong 5 Roberto Duran 6 Ezzard Charles 7 Benny Leonard 8 Muhammad Ali 9 Mickey Walker 10 Bob Fitzsimmons
Good to see Langford so high. He'll be 'winking' at you from his grave. I'd have Leonard creeping in at the bottom half of your top 10, even with his 40 fights.
He's in the next 5 for sure. He's got the wins. I think 40 is plenty, the type of class he fought in.
#1. Robinson #2. Armstrong #3. Langford #4. Duran #5. Greb #6. Ali #7. Pep #8. Whitaker #9. Monzon #10. Charles Tried to find spots (often do other times i make the list) for both Benny and Ray Leonard, but I like this top 10. For the record, I don't rate fighters before 1900, so no Fitz. It's hard enough to rate Greb without film, but his resume is enough for top 5 status. Also, Charles being above Monzon and Whitaker (perhaps Pep as well) is totally acceptable. I don't really see much seperating the 5 (including Ali).
#1: Sugar Ray Robinson #2: Henry Armstong #3: Muhammad Ali #4: Harry Greb #5: Willie Pep #6: Roberto Duran #6: Sam Langford #7: Mickey Walker #8: Ezzard Charles #9: Sugar Ray Leonard #0: Benny Leonard I think my top 3 is a given. I've recently been researching on Henry Armstrong, and he was an extrodinary fighter who achieved great things during his era. I'd have no arguement with people having him at #1. People like Mickey Walker, Benny Leonard, and Harry Greb I don't know much about, but I've seen records, and read about them. I think they all deserves to be on the list somewhere.
my favorite top ten fighters change in order everyday, but right now ill say------------------------------maybe #1 DEMPSEY#2 ROCKY #3 JEFFRIES#4 LOUIS#5 WALCOTT #6 HAGLER #7 T. MORRISIN #8 OSCAR #9 JS CHAVEZ # 10 GATTI THIS IS WAY TO HARD FOR THE ORDER AND LIMITING MYSELF TO SIMPLY 10 IS REALLY HARD. 25 OF MY FAV. WOULD BE EASIER
1. Harry Greb 2. Henry Armstrong 3. Sugar Ray Robinson 4. Sam Langford 5. Ezzard Charles 6. Mickey Walker 7. Roberto Duran 8. Bob Fitzsimmons 9. Archie Moore 0. Barney Ross
1. Henry Armstrong 2. Sugar Ray Robinson 3. Harry Greb 4. Ezzard Charles 5. Sam Langford 6. Mickey Walker 7. Barney Ross 8. Joe Louis 9. Sugar Ray Leonard 10. Muhammad Ali then... 11. Pernell Whitaker 12. Benny Leonard 13. Roberto Duran 14. Willie Pep 15. Bob Fitzsimmons 16. Barbados Joe Walcott 17. Archie Moore 18. Gene Tunney 19. Joe Gans 20. Roy Jones Jr On the fringes: Gavilan, Arguello, Griffith, Hagler and Burley.
I think the top 4 has to be Langford, Greb, Robinson and Armstrong, in whatever order, while Charles should be no lower than 7.
Infallible. 1. Ray Robinson 2. Harry Greb 3. Henry Armstrong 4. Sam Langford 5. Muhammad Ali 6. Ezzard Charles 7. Mickey Walker 8. Roberto Duran 9. Benny Leonard 10. Barney Ross
A great list IMO, though I personally would have Roy Jones Jr and Carlos Monzon in there in place of Joe Louis and Marvin Hagler. I think the last time I did a top 10 I didn't have Chavez in there either, but I can't think who I had instead of JCC. Great call with Arguello, a modern God often overlooked from the upper echelons of these lists. Salute!
