He does, and I'd have him 15-20, but I dont think that loss to Kessler helps. In retrospect, Froch is the best at 168, but in a P4P sense, Ward beat a better version of Kessler than Froch lost to, and has been a lot more dominant in his wins. Like I said, Ward could be like 14th, Froch 15th, they're interchangable, but I didn't want to put down like 8 different names in 10th, so I just stuck in 4. EDIT: Also, I believe P4P covers a broader range than divisional rankings. I think to be at the top of your division it's about the wins you have, P4P covers resume, performance level and overall ability. In my opinion, anyways.
Wins over Mosley, Judah, Clottey, Torres, Quintana, Pinto, Corley, Urkal, Malignaggi, Bailey, Branco. Has a very dubious loss to Margarito and the other is the best P4P in the sport, who he was being competitive with until being caught in the 4th and failing to recover. And he has a recent win over Foreman, which was his third title in a third weight. Added to that he's an all round solid fighter, I think he can break the top 10, or at least be on the periphery.
He was a name I considered for number 10 in mine but I saw quite a few others instead. The guy was a marvellous talent but wins like Mosley, Judah, Quintana, Pinto etc where so long ago I decided to omit him as his recent record has been a little erratic (nothing wrong with that of course, he lost to one solid fighter and another who is among the greatest of all time.) That was one of the reasons why I decided against B-Hop too.
I see where your coming from, it's solid rationale. I still think Cotto has a lot to offer though, past his best but still a good fighter with a lot of talent. The Foreman win is enough I think to have him on the fringes of the list. Like I say, he's in that group where any one of them could be 10th, he could range from 10-15. My top 9 I'm decided on, but I think that number 10 is tricky. Cotto has the potential to rack up some decent wins after Mayorga, so I wont give up on him just yet.
He certainly is in the division to achieve a place in the top 3 pound for pound in my opinion. I think The Ring have him rated at number 3 in the junior middleweight division, not sure.
