I don't think Leonard would've done much better, if at all, had he adopted a similar strategy in their first fight as he did the rematch. He wasn't doing effective work, he was just clowning Duran. Rest assured he'd have payed for it sooner rather than later had he used a similar gameplan in Montreal. Both at their best, Duran showed his superiority. That's what it comes down to for me.

Try & watch this fight without the disgraceful Leonard sucking commentary & you'll see a totally different fight.

Years ago i had this fight close as i'd no doubt scored it by over compensating for Leonard due too my support for duran, but i've watched it twice now in the last 3 months & it's an absolute **** clear duran victory, not even close, tough fight yes, but all the smart slick boxing was done by duran.

He always seemed in charge & got the last word in 95% of exchanges. Absolutly incredible body attacks & the anguish on leonards face after the 9th tells the story which duran dominated big time, duran started to blow a bit during the 12rd but i don't think he coasted the last 3 at all, he won the 13th, even round 14th (Could have gone to Duran) & made leonard miss plenty in the last which i gave to Leonard but that could have been even.

I scored this 9-3-3 a few months back & even now it's a 8-4-3 at the most generous to Leonard & the 3 even rounds at least 2 could have gone to duran making it a 6 point victory. It looked closer than it actually was in reality, duran always had that little bit more of everything so it's no where near close.

A truly incredible performance from Duran to overcome the much younger/bigger/faster champion in Leonard in such a dominant manner:deal

Duran by 2 points. Not a big margin in the end, thought that Duran won clearer before counting it up

He may have been clowning, but he was stopping Duran getting off as easily with his movement. You don't think the hit-and-run approach could have troubled Duran?

I had it to Duran by 10 rounds to 5 too.

I'm not sure how it is seen as close as many here see it. Almost every time Leonard scores and boxes with any sort of success Duran came back with a better effort. Almost every time Leonard looks to be building a rhythm Duran cuts him short and outdoes him in every single department.

Having said that, Leonard did do enough to win 5 of the 15 rounds I thought, so that scoring represents the fact that it was nicely competitive too. It wasn't close though, IMO.

I've just watched it again & in all sympathy for Leonard my score will appear like rough justice considering the ferocious intensity that both fought at, but it's the 3rd time now in the last couple of months with the volume set down low & previously i had it 9-3-3 & last week i had it 8-4-3 but this time it's 9-2-4 & the even rounds could go 2 a piece.

There's absolutly no doubt who won the fight, although all the rounds were close except the 7th for leonard & the 9th for Duran the rest of the rounds i just could'nt give them to Leonard no matter how much he put into them duran always seemed to do that 10% extra by way of slick feints/defence & have the last word when it came to landing the big shots in the majority of the rounds. Know matter what Leonard attempted duran had the answer.

    Leonard v Duran

    1) 10/10
    2) 9/10
    3) 9/10
    4) 9/10
    5) 9/10
    6) 10/10...........Leonard early & duran late rally.
    7) 10/9
    8) 9/10
    9) 9/10
    10) 10/10...........Deff even
    11) 9/10
    12) 10/10
    13) 9/10
    14) 9/10............Close
    15) 10/9............ just!

    Leonard) 141....DURAN) 148

    Leonard) 2 rounds.....DURAN 9 rounds & 4 rounds even....1/6/10/12

Maybe some people are giving Leonard the even rounds to balance things up out of shock & unneccesary embarrasment, i'am sure i did years & years ago as the fight was such a tough one to score but when at the end of the day with the 10 point must system i don't think Leonard won more than 3 rounds which dose'nt reflect the effort he put in i know but Duran just did more in the way of effective punching all night long & Leonard was always the one that repeatedly was getting hit & missing with his own shots while duran never missed him all night long:bbb
