Didn't watch and score it yet myself but the official judges had it 85-85 and 86-84, 86-84 for Lopez.
Yeah. We know. That's ridiculous, which is why everyone is showing their own scorecard. Chuck Giampa (the unofficial ringside scorer for Showtime, their version of HBO's Harold Lederman - and himself a former pro boxing judge with decades of high-level/championship bout experience) had it wide for Salido.
I miss the fight but it seem everyone had this fight score for Salido. But seeing some videos and pics Juanma must have landed some bombs to have Salidos both eyes swollen and even scoring a knockdown on Salido who has a great chin. I'll be watching the fight tonight but as I predicted Juanma let the fans again dictate how to to fight. Thats what happens when you try to be a crowd pleaser you lose to a guy that you should have beaten the first time.
There was lots of two-way action. 90% of the exchanges favored Salido, and he walked through shots without ever batting an eye with the exception of a single knockdown. Meanwhile Lopez looked to be on ***** St. and exhibiting very nervous and uncomfortable body language (despite digging deep and fighting on) from very early on, and stayed that way for most of the nine and a half rounds.
1. 10 9 2. 10 9 3. 10 9 4. 10 9 5. 08 10 gave Juanma the 10-8 round but wouldnt complain about at 10-9 6. 10 9 7. 10 9 8. 10 9 9. 10 9 Judges must have been smoking crack....
Revised scorecard... 1st, 4th, and 5th rounds to Lopez. 5th round is 10-9, because Lopez was hurt before scoring the check hook KD. Initially, I scored the 8th for JuanMa, but upon a second viewing, Salido landed the crisper and harder punches throughout the round. So, a card that was initially quite close (84-84...Man, what was I thinking?), swings to a pretty clear card in favor of Salido (87-84).
Juanma put on some muscle, and imo that caused him to be exhausted more (and Juanma doesnt like to get past the 7th rd or else he'll need JMM's hyperbaric chamber)
