The fight was even on cards after 10. But I think Douglas won every round (except 8th which he was winning till the KD, too). I give Tyson 10-8 in 8th And Buster won 9th BIG - 10-8 for him. So 8-1 in rounds, 88-81 on 10-point must system.
Had the 8th 10-9 for Tyson because besides the KD Douglas won that round. Douglas was landing more punches than Tyson was throwing.
The 8th was the only clear round for Tyson and it probably shouldn't be 10-8 since he got beat up until the KD. Is the judges' scoring in that fight the worst ever in a title fight? One of them had it even and one had Tyson ahead at the time it was stopped.
There are quite a few worst ever scorecards. Tyson-Douglas is among them. Rios-Abril is also disgusting. Even more so because Abril arguably deserved every round and he somehow "lost"
They tried to rob Douglas with those scorecards. Then they tried to rob him by overturning the result. The 8th round should be 10-10 really. Massive knockdown from Tyson to even up a round where he was getting his butt well and truly kicked. The 9th looked 10-8 Douglas to me too. I'd make the other 7 rounds 10-9 for Douglas. 90-81 Douglas
The same as you guys. Dominated A-Z. If it's a football game he was down 45 to 7. Sure is tough to beat a promoters $$$ making machine on the cards though, isn't it? It happened later with the Holyfield and Lewis fights===how many of those rounds did Tyson actually win? He was fortunate to win a 1 minute segment of a round. A full round?
Sometimes you can forgive the judges because they are influenced by the crowed. On this occasion the fix was clearly in as the stadium was eerily silent, must be the Japanese way....
Tyson was one of the biggest cash cows in boxing history at the time, uncle Don wasn't going to let that go easy.
Tyson maybe won 2 rounds, 3 if your bending rules. Douglas was well in the lead. One judge had it tied, another had Tyson in the lead. Shameful, Douglas out landed Tyson 2 to 1 and was in control of the fight.
