I read on Fightnews.com that it was controversial, but was it a robbery?

Duddy has had controversial fights against Campas and Eastman, this really doesn't help his case as a fighter.

it was controversial cause 2 judges gave the fight 8 rounds to 2

but Duddy pulled it off imo. MD was about right as in 5 rounds for Duddy, 4 rounds for Smichet, and 1 round that could go either way.

    not controvertial at all!

I watched the fight last night and was shocked at how bad Duddy was - I knew Walid was tough (see youtube for the Demers fight) but I thought Duddy would have enough to win every round and maybe a round 9 or 10 stoppage but no KO. I watched rounds 1 -5 through my fingers and couldnt believe John wouldnt use his guard.

Anyway I watched the fight again today and it wasnt sooooooo bad - it was bad just not terribly bad. Duddy was stupid and fought the wrong fight.

    I scored it thus

RD1: 10-9 Smichet - first minute Duddy schooled him but then the Smichet bombs landed

    RD2: 10-9 Duddy - Duddy's superior boxing skills

RD3: 10-9 Duddy - All Duddy for the first two and a half minutes but then came the Walid bombs which landed - possibly even.

RD4: 10-9 Smichet - Good round - good trading of blows, Duddy workrate could have taken it/it could have been even but I gave it to Smichet for his more eye catching work

RD5: 10-10 Even - Smichet dominant - then Duddy - then Smichet - then Duddy - couldnt call that one!

    RD6: 10-9 Duddy - Duddy outboxes Walid

RD7: 10-9 Duddy - even exchanges but then Duddy outboxes - Duddy starts boxing on the outside and it proves effective

RD8: 10-9 Duddy - Intermitant Walid shots lands but Duddy's jab wins the round

RD9: 10-9 Duddy - clear Duddy round (possibly the only one!) move movement, better range of shots

RD10: 10-10 Even - Duddy possibly won this one also but it was scrappy

97-94 Duddy - and thats generous to Walid

    Anyone know the punchstats?

    7-3 Duddy

Horrible performance from Duddy, but once he started boxing he pulled away and it wasn't really close

Smichet won rds 1 and 2 and was gassed from 3 on. I had Duddy winning 6rds., losing 3 and one even.

Smichet was very dominant in the 3rd round. Can't agree with you there. He also won the 10th handily

last thirty seconds only - the first 2.5 minutes was all Duddy. I did say it could have been even - I wouldnt fight with someone who gave it to Walid for landing those bombs in the last 30.

Would you agree or disagree with the rest of my rounds?

I guess I was alittle to hesitant to give even rounds, I did during the Campas/Duddy fight. I don't understand how it could've been considered even. I had it 7-3, but I may be a bit biased as I only watched it once and am too familiar with Duddy's defensive strategy of blocking punches with his head. He really needs to put his hands up, and I think it is possible - if anyone saw Pavlik/Taylor 2. Jermain Taylor showed much improvement with his defense in that fight by just simply keeping his hands up. I think Duddy was throwing caution to the wind to get himself a quick KO, but it doesn't always work like that. Still a good fight though, John never disappoints.

Duddy's result against Eastman was far from controversial - i have never heard anyone say that Eastman won,in fact most people were surprised the ref scored it so close

Duddy is simply looking to cash out. He can't beat a legit contender. Man, is his defense porous.:smoke :smoke

I think because Eastman thought he won, some started to question that decision. I thought the Campas fight was close, but Duddy pulled out the win (although I scored it a draw the only time I tried to score it, after that I just started to watch it because it was a great fight).

if you had it 97-93 then how was the judge who scored it a draw controversial and the 2 judges who scored it 98-92 not controversial?

Duddy won the Eastman - not controvertial

Duddy v Campas - I wouldnt have been upset if Campas got the decision.

Ok so we can safely say that Duddy is good, not great. I won't be hating on him if he gets a title shot based on these wins.
