because thats one round that may have been very close but 2 rounds is a bit different,in no way was that fight a draw. to give a claim that smichet even came near to boxing in that fight is a pipedream,he came straight forward to get on the inside and when duddy tried to throw a jab to get him off him he just started swinging, elbows forearms and fists. the eastman fight was no way controversial,it was a very good performance from duddy, but one that hasnt proved to be the basis of further defensive improvement.
he could be great if his defense improves - put I have been saying that since the YBC fight - since then he has had a year and a half, six fights and a change of trainer - but no obvious improvement - infact his power seems to have evaporated!
Over Tito Trinidad I'd say so. Although I've heard that Trinidad's father will not let him fight Pavlik (understandable). From a business aspect a Pavlik/Duddy fight would be a bigger draw than having Kelly fight any other fighters at middleweight (excluding Abraham).
Duddy will never be great - if his defense improves ten fold then he may become competitive against the divisions elite but thats a big if
