So if Froch was to beat Ward and Bute and Kessler beat nobody of note, would he still be behind Kessler? No. Froch's resumé is good enough to make up for that close loss. Nobody else in the super-middleweight division has a resumé in the past 2 years as good as one containing wins over Pascal, Taylor, Dirrell (disputed of course) and Abraham.
The fight was extremely close (I believe there is a remarkable user base who scored the fight a draw or in favor of Froch) and Froch's resume is very impressive. The top 5 fighters of the division are super close H2H.
Yea but Froch hasn't beaten Ward & Bute and Abraham has proven he is not an elite 168lbder, hence his 1-2 record, and Froch has just that win over AA since his defeat to Kessler and i believe Kessler would win another close one between the two, if Andre Berto would happen to beat Pacquiao would he still be ranked lower than Pac at welter, just because Pac resume is better, no i don't think so.
So was Froch's fight against Dirrell, it was much more controversial than Froch/Kessler, so whats your point a loss is a loss and he lost to Kessler a man who erased Froch's undefeated record.
IMO AA doesn't diserve this spot! he did nothing at SMW ! But this is your list and i respect it. I just needed to say it:good
That's a good point but I don't see a Pascal-esque win of Kessler's resume and don't forget Taylor and Abraham. That's infinitely better than a win over Beyer or Andrade. Plus I felt Kessler's performance against Ward was very underwhelming. There's no shame in losing a decision to Ward in Oakland but Kessler looked like he didn't belong in there. I've only seen the fight once (live) but I remember giving Kessler not more than 1 or 2 rounds out of 10/11. I have not forgotten that Kessler actually beat Froch but as I said, the fight could have gone either way and if you want to rank both fighters properly you must check their resumes and not their H2H clash.
Why are Kessler and Dirrel even mentioned?? They're not fighting anytime soon......... 1. Ward 2. Froch 3. Bute 4. G. Johnson 5. Bika 6. Abraham.... .......Dirrel/ Kessler are on my I.R. list.... until they fight again
Taylor & Abraham are also two guys who moved up from 160, who has not been successful at 168, one has retired indefinitely and the other plans to go back to 160 immediately following his contractual agreement to the Super6 Tourney, so upon further review of those two wins I would not rank them as highly as you seem to, so Froch beat Pascal, Taylor & Abraham and Kessler beat Froch, Perdomo & Andrade, which is just as credible at 168 as Taylor and Abraham.
Kessler and Dirrell are listed, because until and unless they announce retirement, they are both top-5 SMWs.
Abraham is the worst of that lot, but I still believe he'd beat the likes of Bika, Green and probably Stieglitz.
