Basically I'm trying to line up a face-to-face interview with him to talk about his career, the fact that he's a cult icon, Haye, Eubank etc. What's your thoughts on him as you look back on his career and achievements? Cheers Shaun Brown
Huge heart and pretty good punch. Just felt that he never quite had the focus to make the most of what he had, and had two or three loses that he shouldn't have suffered due to that. Exciting fighter.
Amazing resilience, great combination puncher, good timer of power shots. Took part in some of the most anazing fights ever and beat the future heavyweight champion of the world.
the guy who trained carl for the haye fight has coached me and talked about the lead up the the fight, with people saying carl stay away from this kid, hes a beast you could get hurt etc etc and apparently thompson was like "na man, dont sweat it, its cool" -the coach is a tough mofo and he was saying this with a sense of exasperation at carls bravery and overall attitude
True warrior, granite chin and always comes across as quite humble. I couldn't believe how much punishment he took against Haye and then came back to stop him. I don't think he had as much recognition throughout his career as he deserved personally
The man with the most amazing powers of recovery. You could have run him over with a bus, but give him 10 seconds and he'll be throwing punches back at you.
He was a warrior, a very good fighter, and provided great entertainent and service to the sport of boxing.
His fights were 100% guaranteed to entertain. Beat Eubank twice, the first fight was awesome. Stopped Haye. A few highlight reel KO's for and against. Hated the way Nelson and Ingle chased after him at every opportunity.
The Rothman KO is one of my all time faves after Rothmans show boating. That fight really sums Carl up for me. Almost too nice a public persona, but you just know that if you got on the wrong side of him (like Naz)....
tough tough guy was getting beat in the second Eubank figt but still own on a closed and cut eye in a tremendous battle a true warior
I wish he was still fighting. One of a few boxers who's nickname/moniker was VERY apt. Dude had way more than 9 lives.
