If the Lemieux PPV succeeds and Canelo beats Cotto, we will have GGG vs Canelo next year. After that, more people will want to fight Gennady, so he will be able to collect the remaining belt.
An okay fighter in a weak division who crushes tin cans and has the most abhorrent bunch of fans in existence.
So you think Ward will move to his natural weight where to claim ANY success he'd have to be B side to KOVALEV, who has a passion for hurting disrespectful punks. Yeah, OK. He's gonna move up and risk losing an opportunity to quadruple his best payday fighting GGG on HBO PPV???? I don't think so
Despite his resume I think he's a great fighter. He's yet to be pushed and he's disposing of guys easily. I think he beats everyone at 160 and most at 168. P4P, I rank him highly, resume-wise I don't.
If the MWs boiling, ie Charlos, Cotto Canelo Nelson clottey etc were to step up like Lemieux is, would you be kinder on his resume if he added 3 of those 6 names. Cuz aside from aging Martinez and Sturm, he's beat the best of this generation in Geale, Murray and Macklin. He was mandatory to Sturm for a while and Pirog was gonna give it a go. Proxa stepped up, but GGG ruined him. Monroe...Well. hope he ain't ruined
Well his resume isn't bad, it's not great either. It's not a HOF resume or anything like that but he's busy so I can't criticize him. I don't hold it against him much because it's difficult for him to get fights and I think he's a great boxer. But whether his fault or not, his resume is so-so. I hope that answers your question.
I like Golovkin, he is a natural born killer and not only does he knock people out, he is also very technical sound. A fine product of the former eastern bloc boxing school. However, we still need him to see beat boxers like: Canelo, Ward and so onÂ… Lemieux is a step up and will add him a nice name. He is skilled enough to make it to the HOF, however he needs to beat the elite boxers in order do so.
Glad he got the PPV/unification bout coming up. This is a huge step for him getting the really big fights he has been clamoring for.
