De la hoya Andre ward Lomachenko Usyk All lead with their power hand. I guess it makes sense as you use that hand more and your jab will be more powerful. Wouldnt your cross be a lot weaker though?
I believe Tyson and hagler were too? Cotto too? Some guys are great at it others never seem to fully develop the other hand and I think it becomes a hindering in their biggest fights
Cotto was a lefty who fought orthodox as well. I guess they are sacrificing some power on the big shots, but having a quicker stronger jab and short hook is more beneficial in their eyes.
It doesn't make sense at all. Look at any boxer and you can see that their lead hand is bigger and stronger. It's because the lead hand is used a lot more. If anything, it's just coordination.
Tyson was a lefty, learned to fight righty by Cus Damato to make it easier for himself to teach him. It's why he had almost equal power in both hands and turned southpaw at times depending on angles to hit from.
Winky Wright too. Some coaches don't like it cause they fear early in a fighters career they may not have the power to keep their opponents honest
Trinidad is a good example and he was a lefty, de la hoya and cotto too! Ivan calderon was right handed but he fought like a lefty
That’s just a myth from boxing forums. He’s right handed, he’s said it himself. Google ‘Mikey Tyson signing autographs’
