He tko's Ward and UD's Froch, he is the best in the division but has yet to prove it. He does seem like a home time fighter but he is making it up with the Froch fight, plus he offered to fight Ward in America but Ward declined. US fans get mad at him for fighting in Canada but he draws bigger crowds than the american fighters in his division do.
Very good counter puncher, he responds with an opponents offence with quick, sharp and precise counters, however he mainly relies on reflex to do this, he carrys his hands way too low and doesn't bring them back after throwing either. It would be interesting to see him in against a world class fast handed opponent who can feint (not Froch) He is best at mid range in control of the pace and playing the role of counter puncher. Most of his knock-outs come from potshot counters, when on the front foot he can smother his own work with rapid combinations that lack the leverage of his single shots. When forced on the front foot I don't think he will be as successful, especially in the power department. His footwork is also not the greatest, he gets caught up on himself when backing up against the ropes and and isn't the fastest on foot either, again he's great at setting the pace so that he doesn't need to chase or run though. Froch will fight right to Bute's pace (just saying) That's not all of his negatives and obviously didn't mention enough of his good qualities but I kinda lost interest in what I was doing. I'm a big fan of his style.
Attaboy, Post Box! Same here. Good fighter; as a fellow lefty and body-blow fan, I appreciate that reach-around finisher of his; hopefully we will get to see him tested more and more against better opposition.
