you would throw 2 cheap shots against a much lesser fighter aswell

    nice 1:thumbsup

i think Floyd could of won over some fans yestoday if instead of the cheap shots just waited and then put it on him

Guys, it was clearly a legitimate KO. There's no way in which you can argue that it wasn't legal, unsportsmanlike, of course, but it wasn't illegal. Cortez starts the fight again at 56 seconds in the video, the fight had, technically, already started again for about 5 seconds before the KO came, which is why everyone seems up in arms, because not many spotted it. Just because Joe is inept does not make that knockout illegitimate, it just makes it an unfortunate event.

In relation to Mayweather's timing, I stick by that. I saw him miss a wide open target by margins I've never seen him miss with before on numerous occasions. His connect % may have been high, but that's a mixture of Ortiz's poor defensive capabilities and Floyd being a great fighter. In my opinion, by his standards his timing was off.

I still think Mayweather beats Pacquiao, but in no way do I think it'll be as clear-cut as I did before the fight(that's not to say I didn't think it'd be close, I did[and still do], but it's left a doubt in my mind, and it's more feasible for me now to envisage a Pacquiao victory).

Floyd's reflexes and handspeed were still very very good...His timing was really off though, especially with the left hook. The rust is catching up to him. Hopefully he stays active.

I genuinely think Floyd has very little chance with Pac. The amount of times Victor closed the distance made me think a faster and better combination puncher with quicker feet would have little trouble getting in and out. When in close, Vic just dragged his right arm over Floyd. Pac would make space for himself as is so much better at getting off than Ortiz is.

Plus Pac has a good chin and is hard to dissuade. Floyds output goes down again and he gets outworked down the stretch....at best.

good shout, only thing i worry bout is if Pac trys to think abit to much. Ortiz was trying to think with Mayweather at times when he should of just been letting his hands go, if pacquiao just puts it on and keeps a high work rate i can't see Floyd winning

You know what missed the fight last night just watched replays of the knockout and aftermath but one thing that really gets me is Ortiz's "Im just happy to be here" attitude. What really gets me is the headbutt shows that he clearly does have some fire in his belly somewhere but he gets knocked out in a potentially protestable manner and he is just there smiling his head off.

    Really irks me

Enough of this touch gloves friendly friendly culture that is prevailing in boxing at the moment. Dont mind respect but dont need to see how much you are going to be mates after whilst you are still in the ring.

I still dunno, Pacquiao doesn't look at his best against counterpunchers and back peddlers. I fear Money could make him miss coming in. Then again, Pac is so fast, he could conceivably get in range, unload, then get out and with Floyd being defensive, ge might just outwork him

I agree that given the weight he has come from, Pac's chin is granite in a p4p sense. However purely at 147, I think he can be hurt an dissuaded if tagged often enough (something noone has been able to do thus far). One of the reasons the fight would have been so fantastic if they are essentially kryptonite for eachother but whatever.

I do agree that Pac would win the fight; I think Pac would outwork Floyd to a decision. Previously I thought May was too slick but his deteriorating footspeed gives Pac a clear advantage imo.

Yeah agree with all of this

Even allowing for that general nature thats going on at the moment, i thought it was especially off considering the nature of the ko

'hahahaha we were touching gloves and hugging and then suddenly you knocked me out! lets be best mates!' :huh

i know it was his own fault but you wouldnt be happy if it happened to you would you? and you surely wouldnt be stood there grinning your face off with the guy who did it to you 5 minutes later?

if hed have gone mental and protested the ref etc. you could understand that, but instead he seemed as happy as if hed won

Yes that's my take on it also.

He's still a young guy, he's made enough money that can enable him to make any kind of life he wants. If he doesn't love the sport (and it's a hard sport to love at times) he should go and do something he does.

I don't understand his mindset to be honest he's got tons of heart but seems to have something of a defeatist outlook - as if things will always turn out bad anyway so why take it personally? I think this is what the smiles are about rather than that he doesn't care.
Maybe it comes from his childhood, but who knows?

He fights differently against different opponents. He's also a slow starter.

Hard to read so much into a fight where he doesn't take two clean punches in any combination.

Pacquiao struggled with the movement of Mosley, could barely catch him clean. Mayweather's movement is much quicker and more intelligent. His stance is also harder to open and he's one of the most accurate guys in boxing.

Don't understand how that's funny Flea. You no doubt have knowledge of boxing, surely you think it's a close fight.
