Good post imo... Witherspoon is significantly underrated.

Every single fighter Witherspoon lost to or struggled with in the 80's, Tyson beat EMPHATICALLY.

    Tim Witherspoon
    L SD 15 Holmes
    W SD 15 Tubbs
    L MD 15 Thomas
    W KO 11 Bruno
    L KO 1 Bonecrusher
    W SD 12 Williams

    Mike Tyson
    W KO 4 Holmes
    W KO 2 Tubbs
    W KO 7 Thomas
    W KO 5 Bruno
    W UD 12 Bonecrusher
    W KO 1 Williams

Spoon probably should belong with Tyson and Holmes, but, and but negates everything you say before it, his record falls short in head to head competition.

Take those 2 out & you can flush the entire decade down the leu. Pathetic, lazy, fatass no determination or tenaciousness or class grace. The entire donut eating fragile bunch should be hunted down now and executed just to clean the record and drain that septic swamp of lard!

Guys like Weaver and Berbick got quite a lot out of themselves and always came in well prepared. Weaver's biggest problem was often being frozen out and picking up an injury or two when at his best.

You´re talking some crap that it hurts.

Of course the Valdes, Harris, Williams, Machens, Folleys, Besmanoffs, Londons, Laynes and Cockells were better than that rocksolid bunch of 220lb heavyweights :drink::drooling::copas:

He may generally be a little underrated but to put him in the same category as Holmes and Tyson is vastly overrating him.

I agree with everything you said apart from 'Spoon probably should belong with Tyson and Holmes...'. I know you qualified that statement but there's no other 80s heavyweight who belongs with Tyson and Holmes - those two stand alone. Witherspoon is probably only the best of the rest.

Lol ..So you liked the 80 s Guy's then ??To be serious though they could be their own worst enemy's at times. And Don King didn't really help matters though.

What you wrote is mostly true. But would you agree that Witherspoon beat the better versions of the above fighters which includes Smith?

    I would say so.

Tubbs was fat for Tyson. Holmes, 38 and inactive. Bruno Rocked Tyson badly. Timmy didn't have that happen t him when he fought Bruno. Thomas later in his career had problems with drugs.

So Tyson had the better results ( but did not fight Page ), but Witherpoon beat the same guys when they were in better shape.

Finally, I believe Don King avoided making a match with Tyson and Witherspoon at all costs. A pity, it would have been a very good one. The winner would be #1 in the 80's, I think.

Witherspoon lasts as long as Pink Thomas did against 80's Tyson. King didn't avoid Spoon. King wasn't with Tyson until after Spinks. I'm sure if Cayton was still managing Mike the bout would eventually have happened.

And no, I don't think Spoon fought the best versions of each fighter. It's up for debate but these guys trained their azzes off in fear of Tyson murdering them.

McCallum, Galaxy and how could I forget Fenech! Good calls, every one of them.
