Yeah always thought for my money that Griff and Walker were the strongest 147'ers of all time.
Yes Turpin and Saddler are very strong. That film of Turpin v Cockell, it's hard to say that Turpin never looked better. And Saddler? I don't think anyone who ever put on gloves walks through him...Nasty, vicious guy.

This is a question where you need not neccessarily name the greatest of the greats. I am vastly confident for example that Jeff Fenech was stronger P4P than a great many already named in this thread. It was insane the way he used to bully and manhandle guys physically in there at and close to his best weight.

There would be guys out there no-one would ever think of that deserve mention. Good thread tho.

Before reading this Jeff Fenech was one of the names that popped up in my head. Some good calls already on this the other one George Chuvalo for his chin obviously but to fight and survive not being dropped against so many great fighters, tremendous strength.

I have read and researched for decades about the bare knuckle days Tom Cribb being a particular favourite of mine, only lost once and was famed for his ability to withstand insane amounts of punishment. The ability to grind down and break the others will was half the battle,by taking all the opponent had true strength, guts and determination. He had those in abundance.

chuvalo was a monster physically, he was built like a cave man, robust bones like hell, this guy could have been a good powerlifter or a strongman

bovanena was a bull himself and look at him with chuvalo

Any list without Carnera on it isn't going to be worth much.

I like your list Combatesdeboxeo.....it's pretty much identical to mine, especially in listing Fullmer and Monzon...and the obvious...George Foreman...can't have a "strongest" list without him.

Emile Griffith and Dick Tiger must be included on a "strongest" list!
