It was such a horribly stated thread and OP that someone had to decide this to give any sort of context... and off we went.

Otherwise, it's just another soft, rambling best heavyweight ever thread that has been repeated a thousand times on this forum. As it is, it still sucks.

He beat a prime holyfield who is better than Johnson or anyone Johnson faced in his career.

Bowe is not the second coming of Joe Louis, he is merely my pick for the 10th best heavyweight in history.

I'm not too arsed about how good his reign was. He did enough for me to consider him a great heavyweight and he'd beat enough of those great heavyweights for me to consider him number 10.

I think Holyfield would beat up Tyson, based on what I saw.

Allowing for certain considerations regarding the rule set, my best guess would be:

    Ali
    Louis
    Holmes
    Lewis
    Tyson
    Liston
    Foreman
    Frazier
    Marciano
    Johnson

    1_frazier was 5,11 not 6´0,
2_george foreman was not 6´3, he was clearly taller than ali who was 6´3.
foreman was 6´3 1/2 or 6´4 and he was drained at 220 pounds, and still in his peak he weighed around 225 against norton
3_a prime holmes weighed 209-210 in his peak , prime ali weighed 210-212, prime tyson weighed 215-218, he weighed 220 just once OR 2 during his prime
4_liston would get destroyed by foreman, wladimir ,frazier (yes by frazier, liston never was foreman, frazier could not work the body because foreman pushed him back, liston never did it, plus foreman was biggerr, stronger ahd did hit harder than liston , and frazier weighed as much as a prime liston (who weighed 208 pounds, and frazier weighed 209 in his peak against bob foster)and jonhson probably would make him look stupid.
    horrible list

Wladimir Klitschko would be in the top 10.

Liston would bounce Joe around! Liston hit harder than Joe and had a better chin. Even Foreman said Liston backed him up with the jab when they sparred. Vladimir? Two words:Corrie Sanders!

you have no proof about it... frazier in his peak against foster weighed 209 pounds in 5,11 of height and liston weighed 208-210 in his peak in 6´1 of height so frazier was more compact and robust, frazier was no natural lhw like patterson, frazier could well knock liston out, foreman was 18 when he sparred with liston and liston weighed 225 pounds at this time and he had great experience , and still the sparring sessions were competitive, a prime foreman would smash liston, sonny liston was nothing like foreman, physically foreman was bigger, stronger and he did hit harder and stylistically 2 different men. horrible comparison
