    Castillo hasnt beat Floyd

Oscar was at 154....Floyd first ever fight that high.

Who has better ring smarts Floyd or Sweet?

this is relevant because i believe Floyd only fights the plan to win therefore he doesnt have to show his full arsenal.

Id like to add in that if Pernell Whitaker fought Floyd's resume, he wouldnt have a loss either. If Floyd fought Pernell's tho? Not as sure...

    Castillo beat Floyd 115-113.

Oscar was at 154, but he was past-prime and he still took Floyd to an SD. Whitaker had a fight which was just as close with a far, far better version of Oscar.

Pea had better ring smarts, easily. Floyd's "ring-smarts" is basically over-caution. That's why he couldn't adapt to Castillo and beat him convincingly either time. Pea could dance and box and move like a dream (Haugen), he could stand in the pocket and infight like a demon (McGirt I), he had better variety and proved it in tougher fights with better opponents.

Floyd sets pace and distance well...as does Pernell (watch the Chavez fight to see how well). Floyd tho closes up defensively (masterfully btw) when fighters apply pressure...whereas Sweet Pea was never out of his element, whether setting distance or applying pressure himself.

If anything, its slightly to Pernell.

The jab comment makes me think that Cepillo is just using the Mayweather-Whitaker debate to vent his annoyance at a perceived older-fighter bias on ESB, because no-one who has actually watched Whitaker fight could think this. Cepillo does have a valid point about olden-day bias, but he does not have a valid point to make about Mayweather-Whitaker, as his knowledge of Whitaker as a fighter is almost non-existent.

I agree 100% about a bias toward older fighters...just like I agree that Cepillo's knowledge of Whitaker is based on highlight vids, conjecture of posters (I love it when posters call Pernell boring...like he didnt regularly throw 1000+ punches in his prime...LOL) and maybe a couple of his fights past his prime (maybe Oscar and Tito).

how did he not adapt to castillo but he won both fights????????? The first fight he won with a torn rotator cuff you refuse to admit that and then you state the second fight wasnt convincing? come on man give credit to where credit is due!

Floyd can stand in the pocket you say Pea could dance and box thats what Pea does though not what Floyd does that doesnt mean he cant do it...not all fighters "dance". Im inclined to say you like Pea because of the flash and the fact that Floyd is far more technical but still on par with him you dont give Floyd his just do.

You can not blame a fighter for fighting the fight which gets the W...Floyd has domintaed all opposition convincingly but Castillo 1....Oscar was a clear UD 8-4 and you know it.

floyd takes away fighters best chance to win..nullifies fighters best punches or hands.....in no way am i saying Floyd is better than Pea but he has shown enough to know that he is on Par with Pea....and the only thing which hinders him is RESUME.

What your referring to really is ring generalship...which plays heavily into ring intellect. Both Pea and Floyd are fantastic in this. But what separates this often is how each fighter reacts to his opponent applying their own gameplan...which is why I pointed out that Floyd likes to go into a shell and cover up (which was the ONLY reason the Oscar fight was even marginally close BTW)...whereas, Pernell would adapt, fight the opponents fight and still dominate (which is why in his prime, there werent really any fights outside of McGirt 1 and Rivera 1 that one would consider close, and both of those, he came back and destroyed them in the rematches).

Ricky Hatton is sooooooooooooo overrated. He beat about 35 english bartenders and cab drivers. that's why his record was so good. he didnt do anything special against decent opposition

have to laugh at Barrera being overrated accordin to the TS. He is a huge Hamed fan, so keep that in mind.

I like the Calzaghe over/under-i can understand that.

off the top of my head........

Overrated--Mayweather Jr- Of course im not saying he isnt a top fighter...but comparisons to Ray Robinson?? He even thinks hes the best ever doesnt he??

Hopkins- again-a top fighter..but gets too much credit for catchweight wins vs big name smaller fighters.

Mosley-- A cheat, who is still praised too stop.

Underrated- Julian Jackson....... erm cant think at the moment. Im sure i'll have some later
