Even judging their opponents' fighting style is an assessment of their resume. Otherwise, you wouldn't even know what styles they have faced. But I'll play along... So if a guy faces every style of boxing and kicks ass in his first 30 fights, but hasn't fought anyone close to being top 10, how can you possibly rate or value him among those who face slightly less variations of boxing styles but consistently fight world class ranked guys? You just can't. It becomes a "Oh, I like this guy!" or "Oh, I think he will be good!" sort of opinion.
ok, how would anyone become known to the public if they never fight anyone in the top 10 in their div ? they can show their skills against top 20/30 fighters but of course they would end fighting top 10 fighters. dude, every single thing said on this and every forum is nothing but opinions. you think anyone on here has a clue what they are talking about outside of who they like and who they don't like ? the internet forums as a whole is all opinions from fans, x fighters (rarely but they are some of us) and even ex athletes.
I agree with you here. Doesn't change anything that I've said. We're both right. I'm just saying that "regardless of resume" insinuates that we are judging on physique and training footage alone pretty much. Who and how they fight in the ring IS their resume.
i'll agree with that, I can only go by the eye test. name opponents mean little to me unless their styles clash which intrigues me.. all about styles for me, styles , stamina, ring IQ and the drive and heart to win under all conditions. not that it happens like that, everyone loses if they fight long enough but if they have the above attributes that goes a long way
Disregarding resumes Wins/loses, quality of opponents automatically reduced the thread to a subjective favorites thread anyway, and how much "life" is expected to be sustained from this X-Box exhibition anyway? atsch I mean, I really like the way Emmanuel Augustus fights and using the thread parameters I guess I should have listed him.
It's not a subjective favorites thread, it's a disregarding resume who do you think has the best skills thread. Hence no ones favorite Rigo being placed so high. P4P is already subjective anyway. Hence Americans being ranked so high by the American 'experts'. Broner at P4P #5
