...skills, head and shoulders above his division, carisma, public awareness drawing power.... 1. Sergio Martinez 2. Nonito Donaire 3. Manny Pacquiao 4. JMM 5. Vladdy Klitshko
1. Wladimir Klitschko - Class act, tremendous ability, great sportsman and ambassador of the sport. 2. Juan Manuel Marquez - Ring legend, heart and skills to spare. Would love to see him unify and get a giant payday in the next year then retire intact. 3. Eddie Chambers - America's HW hope. Skilled, good attitude, has desire to be the best. 4. Robert Helenius - Europe's best up and coming HW. Great finisher. Will be a force in the division sooner than later. 5. Mikkel Kessler - Class act. Another great fighter who is good for the sport, but on his way out. Would like to see him unified champion after defeating Bute then retire and go into commentating.
...interesting and obscure...now: 1. Eddie Chambers even though a good prospect..he is just that a prospect..not head and shoulders over his division... 4. Helenious only has fight has been fighter..stepping stone type of pponents...given he took care of them..but not head ad shoulders above his divison... 5. Kessler, class act, no doubt...but the divison is very competitive...same reason as above..he does have carisma and drawing power...
Those are just my top five current fighters. Not necessarily the best in a division, or whatever. Just my favs. I didn't list the best in the division, but I guess those would look like this: Wlad BHop Froch Martinez Pac JMM
I think I just appreciate different parts of their game. Wlad - Great technique, tremendous power, calm, collected tactician. BHop - Cerebral, methodical, student of the game giving lessons in every fight. Froch - Tenacity, scrappy, goes to war every fight. Martinez - Fun to watch. Unorthodox. Pac - The Energizer Bunny. JMM - Courage, heart, determination. Picks himself up and goes back for more. Plus great technique.
Pac - for obvious reasons Wlad - great ambassador for the sport, dominant heavyweight, excellent skills Froch - no-nonsense take-on-anyone fighter, excellent resume, entertaining style, charismatic (in a manner of speaking) Martinez - great sportsman, dominant at his weightclass, entertaining style JMM - ring legend, always exciting, last of the great Mexicans (for now...) Haye should probably be on there somewhere. Love him or loathe him he's really made headlines for UK boxing these past few years. In terms of public awareness he's well up there in this part of the world.
