Being a newbie boxing fan, and paying attention to boxing for roughly 2 years here is my list, from the fights that I watched live on TV: 1. Mayweather Canelo- I watched the Guerrero fight live on tv before this one and didnt really get why Mayweather was a good fighter ( I watched his highlights but being a newbie I really didn't know how to watch a boxing fight), so this fight was an intro to Floyd Mayweather for me. I watched Trout vs Canelo live as well, and after Canelo vs Mayweather was announced I followed the hype about each boxer, listened to interviews of trainers and fighters talking about Mayweather and Canelo. Also, before this fight there was a lot of talk about Mayweather being a ducker and a chicken because he wouldn't face Canelo ( youtube comments, and some interviews), I bought into that until right after the trout fight, Mayweather vs Canelo was announced. This fight was an "aaaaaaaah I get it" about Mayweather. 2. Lomachenko Salido- I was furious watching this one because of the low blows, but as months passed I became more appreciative of it, and Salido, and how a fight like this can be a great lesson. Following this fight Lomachenko in an instant started talking to the ref in the Gary Russel Jr. fight. 3. Broner Maidana- big loud mouth flamboyant fighter vs quiet fighter. This was awesome, the good and the bad, it was all good in the end. 4. Kovalev Hopkins- educational, patience and concentration, fighting 12 rounds 36 minutes with incredible focus. 5. Cotto Martinez- shock value, also a complete obliteration of a *high* caliber fighter ( I know people say his legs were gone, and they probably were)
